Buying an, FD need some pointers!

Hello everyone! I am currently looking around to buy a 3rd gen RX-7 and I need a few pointers. I wanted to know what to avoid when shopping for one and what I should look for in one. The only requirement that I have so far is that it has to be a 5 speed. Thanks for any help you all can give out and I will try to answer any questions you have for me promptly. I bought an RX-8 last year and I have really fallen in love with the rotory engine. I would like to get a car that needs some work and probably not spend more than 15k starting out.

Thanks,
Shogun

Is thre any reason I should avoid a 93 model? I read through the buying guide that you pointed out but I did not see anything suggesting if any of the 93-95s are ok to buy.

thank you,
Shogun

Here's one I'm selling in Northern VA. But not to sound like an ***, make sure you read up and know what you're getting into, cuz I care more that she go into capable hands, than just getting $$ for her...

LOTS of good info is in the Newbie stickys on the top of the forum page. Read, read, and read some more. There's A LOT to learn. Oh, and before you do all that, start investing your money from NOW LOL...cuz FD's are money pits!

My advice is to get a nice one, rebuilt engine etc. The cost of parts alone is substantial. Even if you do "all" the work your self and keep it stock looking you could spend a lot more than you would ever think. I picked up a perfect looking 93 with a bad engine and did all the work myself and still spent well over 5k and need another 3K to get it as it should be. Most guys do put a lot of hard work and money in their cars but really can't get back the bulk of the costs when selling, so you can get a nice one for 15k if you stay cool when shopping. The FD is a real throw back sports car, no frills just old fashioned performance.
