I've went with an HKS Hiper. Couldn't beat the price, especially for the level of quality that goes into it. You'll get what you pay for with other pieces like the JIC, A'PEXi, etc, but if you're looking for a cannister muffler stlye exhaust, don't forget to take a look at the hiper. Fits real nice and sounds wonderful. It was my first mod. I've got a dp on there now and it gained a mean tone to it, not to mention, unleashed a whole ton of power due to having 2/3's of the exhaust piping 3" and open with nothing but the main cat in there. The car pulls like mad now. I wouldn't be concerned too much about power gain until you get a dp on there because I think the main thing with my car was that the stock precat was holding all the exhaust's potential power release back. The power gain is unleashed now.

One of the best combo for most free flowing and best looks in my book is the Apexi GT SPEC. Besides the HKS FULL Titanium which is abour $1300 and TOO loud for the streets.

Thumbs up

Bucrx7 beat me to it. I have the A'pexi GT Spec and it's outstanding. The top two exhaust I would suggest is the HKS Titanium and A'pexi GT Spec,

HKS Race 4inch full cat/catback!!! As long as you get it on a wideband and tune it, it will give you the most HP (it being the largest diameter piping you can buy).

BTW: Back pressure is crap and you just dont need it. Sure if your not tuning your car, a larger exhaust or a straight thru exhaust may cause you to lose some torque down low but as long as you tune it correctly, a straight pipe/open header (yes yes yes, i do konw that there are no headers on a FD, its just a figure of speech. you get the idea though, a open DP) design should put out more Torque and HP thru out the entire power band. I have never seen a real test (oppose to a butt dyno) done that has challenge this.

for a deeper sounding exhaust, just get any kind of cat-back which is a straight thru type of design, single large muffler outlet, the all the dual tip design types seem too be raspy.

My m2 does not sound raspy at all. I like it a real lot. Sounds real deep. Its pretty quiet which is the reason i decided to get it because once my mp and dp goes on the exhaust noise should be just about where i want it....not unbearabley loud but not quiet.

if you think that one day you are going to put a midpipe on then i would advise not to get something similar to the Apex GT spec.
I had the apex n1 dual with a midpipe and the car was loud as hell man..i am talking like a top fuel car when the secondary turbo comes on. Just wasnt practical on the roads. I since have switched out to the racing beat dual tip. I love it. It still is loud at WOT but nothing like the canister style exhuasts.
It is all about preference and application. Try to decide what your goals for the car are and mod accordingly....it will save you $$ in the long run.

I've heard the Racing Beat has a deep sound. Listen to the exhaust post thread.

I had the apexi n1 and it was very very loud. Drove me crazy so I put on the racing beat. I would never use anything else. Its got a low/deep rumble at idle and screams WOT. Not abusive like the n1.

Couldn't agree more. I have the A'pexi GT Spec and it sounds awesome, and has great flow with 3.74" piping. It has a very low, deep tone to it.

Of the exhausts I have heard in real life I like the RB Dual the most. It's not as loud as most of the others, and it has a deeper tone than most.

I like the racing beat too. I have the dual tip ends and it looks great (not a reamed out *******), and the sounds is exactly what he said - nice deep subtle rumble and then wakes up.

They will hear you but you won't sound obnoxious (well may still to some).
