Burnt car and a question

Well, I had a mishap the other day on the autobahn and my car (saab 9000 Turbo, heavy mods) caught on fire and burnt to a crisp. Nothing left but a frame. Well now its time to replace her, and my first choice is an FD. Just seems right, I wont have to give anyone rides, get to drive my dream car lala. Now my question is how reliable are they when they are driven at autobahn speeds for somewhat long periods of time??? (100-120 MPH) I am afraid the car is going to blow up again. I will forever carry a fire extinguisher in the car from now on. Now I just have to find one that isnt modded..... Thanks for the help. Keep Spinnin!

cruising at 4k-5k rpm in 5th gear should give you 100-120mph speeds which a FD can do fairly easily. Then again, why not just go up to 140mph and cruise till you hit 120-100mph then boost it back up and cruise some more.

BTW: If your afraid of your car blowing up, a FD might not be for you...

I can imagine a FD "cruising" at 140 mph is a little much for the car, at least you'll get such miserable gas mileage you'll want to slow down, probably ~10mpg.

Cruising at 100-120mph should be fine. If I were running at high speeds in that range I'd get an upgraded radiator and a DP just to keep things cool. Pre-cats (did FDs have them in Europe) tend to fail under high constant load situations. I've seen a NEW pre-cat fail in only a few track days.

I read a article once that said the FD preformed quite well on the autobahn cruising at 130mph. I would just do some of the cooling mods and leave it at that. You shouldnt have too much of a problem.

On a second note is it true the police on the autobahn drive suped up porches and they wont tell you what they have done to them?

Well the polizei here dont give tickets, you get your picture taken and they send it to your first sergeant and he yells at youy and they take points on your license. But I was in a polizei M3 the other day, nice car (cold on the side of the autobahn watching car burn..

Euro7- My last trip thru Idaho and Montana let me go 140mph+ for about 2 hours. Gas mileage was poor, but other than a brief conversation with the MT highway patrol- warning only- the car ran fine. Note that I have upgraded the cooling and exhaust system to allow it to run cooler, but you should do this anyway.
