i had this problem after i replaced my cd head unit. Soon after my fuse blue for the majority of the interior lights and all parking lights. It turned out it was the illumination dial for the brightness of the interior gauges that was melting. I only took action after i saw smoke coming from the dash. I guess i pulled on it by accident while working in the dash. Unless, you have been in your dash lately, i dont think this would be the problem because i seem to be the only one that this has ever happened to.

I've got a smell of burning marshmellows in my car. I think it is the pre-cat being clogged.

No pre-cat, as in what gets replaced by a downpipe.
