Broken Solenoid

Today, I took my manifold off to check the hoses and also do the hose job. I noticed that one of the solenoids is broken. the hose that is sopose to attach to it broke off. On this image http://www.rx7turboturbo.com/robrobi...ages/hoses.gif The solenoid G is the one that's broken. It says it's for Double Throttle. I've been having some boost problems since i got the car and it didn't hold the boost till redline, i ususally get 8 psi instead of 10. Could that be because of this solenoid or something else? I also hear a hissing noice when i start the car, it's probably this right?

Anybody know where can i get it and for how much? I don't want to buy a new one.

Thanks

the double throttle solenoid if broken shouldnt cause any boost problems. Do you still have the precat and cat on there? how many miles? have u done the vacuum line job yet? You need to be more exact on your boost symptoms!

just remove the double throttle setup and plug the other end of the hoses not needed. leave the electric part pluged in so the ECU will not know the difference. save your money and flow more air. plus clean out unneeded parts.

if Im not mistaken you wont actually flow more air unless u take out the throttle plates in the double throttle, but be carful it CAN act as more air going into the engine, causing higher boost, boost creep etc. It is good however, because the plates can sometimes stick and cause less air to enter your intake manifold. All it is there to do is to make sure u dont beat the **** out of your engine when its cold. Unlike typical americans, the Rx7 owners know to let the engine warm up fully before running it hard.

So what is your boost issues exactly? give more info on it

the boost problem that i have is only that i don't have 10 psi till redline. I used to have 8 psi till redline and i found a leak in the second bov. So changed the hoses there and now i get 9 psi till redline.

I heard hissing sound coming from under the manifold and i thought that that might be it, so that's why i took it off to do the hose job. I found that Solenoid broken. There is also small check valve that goes from that solenoid. The hose goes from manifold to check valve and then to selenoid.

So what you all are saying that this hose is actually going to double throtle acuator which is on the manifold closer to firewal, and i should just plug it. Now question is, should I plug the hose or the acuator?

you can see from my signature what i have in my car and i should be able to make 10 psi till redline.

Thanks

I don't want to start a new thread,

Does anybody know if the Solenoids from the Old Rx7 FC will fit to the FD. I can find a lot of those from 88, rx7's and i just need one to replace it on my FD.

Please if anyone knows, write me back.

Thanks

Just get rid of that DT solenoid, plug up the hose to the actuator, remove it and then wire open the DT butterflies. You're probably losing boost because the actuator is keeping the DT butterfly shut. The purpose of the double throttle is to stop the car from boosting while the engine is cold.

I believe all the solenoids except for the Turbo Control are the same. As for swapping them for FC solenoids... i suppose you can check the part number on the solenoids.

I have the same problem, but my question is do I cap off all the lines that run of that solenoid. There would be six if i am correct? What else can you disconnect while doing the vacumm line upgrade.

Heres a diagram of everything you have to remove and plug up. The red dot denotes what line you have to plug up.

Note that this is a diagram of completely removing the DT system. The quick and easy way would be to just wire the butterflies open on the UIM, and plug the hose going to the actuator.

there won't be any problems removing the vacuum chamber? Would it be alright to remove the solenoid, or is it better to just leave it electrical connected? Is there any other b.s lines that can be removed?
