Broken Powerplant Frame?

Hey guys,
What are they symptoms of a broken PPF? I got a lot of wheelhop on one run and the next time I tried to do a burnout I heard a clunk and it was very difficult to spin the tires. There is no noise coming from the diff and it drives fine. Is there a common place where these things break?

Hey Marshall,
Mine broke on the top/front that connects to the frame I beleive,
Check out where it connects to the tranny as well. I just got mine Welded togethor but I think you should get the Mazdaspeed one. I've heard it's indestructable.

Sorry i don't know what effects it would have if it's broken...
Probally a slight loss of power to the ground. And a slghtly loose
feel around corners. best wishes though... jc

They basically break wherever they are weak. I did the exact thing, tried to launch but couldn't accelerate, the damn ppf broke and the drive shaft u-joint was hitting the E-brake cable mount above the drive shaft. Was also allowing the big ET streets to rub the under side of the fender as well as made the clutch slip like hell because of everything making contact with the car(tires/ fender -drive shaft/cable mount and this was making the clutch slip) Yes, Marshall it sounds like you've busted the PPF. The mazdaspeed one is like 350 bucks but I believe it is very tough. I have many 1.70 60' times on ET streets with mine and a few Mid 11 second runs with no problems on mine.

The mazdaspeed PPF is 10% stronger then stock. The Re-Amemiya is 20% stronger then stock so if you do the math the RE one is stronger then the mazdaspeed.
