Broken Drivers door handle parts

Any one who had there drivers door handle break and replaced it......someone got any of there old parts laying around ? ? ? What I'm looking for is a door handle (just the paddle portion you lift on) that broke at the pivot pin or with wallowed out pivot pin holes to see if a metal repair can be fabricated. Please PM me if you have this part available and are willing to part with it. Thanks, Jack

I can probably help you out, but BTW the paddle handle you lift up on is PLASTIC, not metal. That's half the problem with the door handles.

I had a post a while back all about door handles. The primary cause of failure is lubrication. Shoot the hingles with some white lithium grease once a year and they'll last MUCH longer.

Hey Dale.
I was looking into making some form of reinforcement out of metal to eliminate the wear of the pivot pin holes in the "plastic" portion of the handle. Tom just broke his but it was where the flat piece you lift on joins the two legs that got to the pivot point. I'm a firm believer in lubrication as well. Made mine work like brand new, I also think the metal working parts should be checked for stress and deformity (if there bent it puts more of a strain on the system to operate the mechanisim.) Let me know what you have. Thanks, Jack

yeah Jack, Dale is right! The handle is plastic and could break at many different points. I thought of trying to reinforce it with CF, I do when I laminate the handle part, but that does not do anything for the hinges. Maybe you can coat the plastic to improve strength, I have no clue. I am still trying to think of something. Were you going to fab one of metal cause that sounds like an awesome idea? oh and Merry X-mas Jack, you too Dale.

Ok you guy's where did I imply the handle was metal ???? I was saying I wanted to try and make a metal reinforcement for the hanlde, not that the handle was metal.

No I was just saying that would be awesome if someone did get one to replace the handle part out of metal. Could you not mill one out? I would have to ask my metal friend? how where you thinking of reinforcing it with metal? Brainstorming is good. I do these handles a lot so I want to figure out a way to improve them.

I've got some guy's that coulld machine one. WOuldn't be very cost effective though. Now if I can do what I think will work the parts would be easy to install and beef up the stock pivot points (which means something else will break). I just need some donor parts to play with as my handles are like brand new and don't want to experiment with them. (-:
