Question FD sat in the garage for a couple of weeks and now wont start

Went out of town for a almost 2 weeks, left my fd in the garage, came back from the trip, and now it wont start. I turn the ingnition and it just cranks and cranks but to no avail (kinda like when its flooded). I remember seeing a couple of threads about this a while back but i dont know what to put in the search bar to get the right threads. Can n e one point me in the right direction? Is it the same process as when its flooded? Thanks guys

No, since I never had that problem, but if you have it, there's got to be someone on the forum who has, and that can share their experience.

you mineswell do the de-flooding drill. It really doesn't take all that long.

The last time you started it before you stopped was it a quick start maybe just to put it in the garage? If so you probably flooded it. A quick way to fix the problem, pull the fuse going to the fuel pump relay or the fuel pump and turn the car over with just the ignition no fuel and hope it burns it. Then put the fuse back in and try again.

Ok well i unflooded the car today, it started, and now it runs rough as hell! The idle is super bouncy and drops in the 100-300rpm range. When i rev it its smooth as usual and makes all the right noises but when i drive it, its ****. Took it for a spin and its fine up untill i spool. If i drive slowly, with little boost, it will go past 4Krpm. Although, when i step on it, it revs fine until at about 3Krpm. Once i hit 3K or so the car bogs hard core almost like i hit massive fuel cut or something. Makes a quick and noticable poping noise. I tried messing with the fuel pump relay since i took it out to start the car hoping that was the problem but i dont think it is. Could it be my injectrs or spark plugs? As usual i come to you guys for adivce, and again i thank you.

Tom

Start by checking some obvious things like the MAP sensor line. If you are on the stock ECU, try resetting the ECU and starting it up again.

under the hood, in front of the air box, there's a fuse box that will have "FUEL PUMP RELAY" written on the top. open the box and pull that fuse.

Update: So far same problems. The car warms up fine, revs fine, sounds good at idle, but when i drive it, it bogs BIG time at any rmp above 3K rpm at more than 70% throttle. If i accel slowly the car will go past 3k. When it bogs its almost like im applying the breaks! I tried driving it once more and the same thing happend. Although, when i popped the hood i noticed some light smoke comming from what looked like the turbos ( back left part of the engine bay close to the ABS). I took off all the intake pipes so i can check to see if the turbos are going, but they look fine and have minimal shaft play. Im stock besides a pair of apexi intakes, flywheel, clutch, and catback.

Side Q: I noticed ALL my intake piping smells of something that resebles like fresh spray paint. Could this be related?

Did you replace the spark plugs? If not, they may be fouled from the flooding, and not spark at high cylinder pressures (wider throttle openings). This could cause your symptoms. Bad plug wires will do the same, but since you were flooded, I'd suggest replacing the plugs.

I don't know about the smoke or the spray paint, but I would be sure you don't have a fuel or oil leak causing it.

The bogging sounds like a sticking injector.

If he's bogging at 3K, I'd put my money on the car being in limp mode.

As mentioned before, check your MAP sensor. Here's a photo of someone's car from SevenStock. Notice the blue vacuum line going into the sensor. My guess is that your vacuum line might have come off.

Good point. That's the more likely reason.

You need to start by pulling any codes stored in the ECU (unless you have a programmable ECU like the PFC, Haltech, etc).

The check engine light doesn't need to be on for the car to be in limp mode (or for there to be codes stored).
