Bringing a stripped interior back to life
I decided to bite off more than I have ever done....and was just looking for as much information as I can to help get this car back together.
What I have is a stripped shell....no interior at all.
I just bought a lot of interior parts from a local seller who had a lot of the parts that I need. So I got two body harnesses, dash, heater core, evaporator, etc... and I need to start figuring out how all this goes back in. Does anyone have any step by step instructions for how to install the dash back in the car? The proper order? Parts list? I know how to install everything after the dash, such as the glove box, panels, gauges, etc...but I have never personally removed a dash and the last thing I want to do is skip a step and end up having to do it all over again.
I did some searching and found a few pics here and there, but I figured someone who has done it before probably would be more helpful.
Thanks in advance. This is what I am starting with....a 94 Silver R2 w/ 13k miles on it...time to save this car.
Also, if anyone has any random pics of the car with the dash out, with random parts mounted, wiring harness layout, etc... I would love to see them for a visual reference point.

Your best bet is to have a look through the build threads. Here is one with a couple pics:

Their are also a few threads in the Interior section relating to soundproofing that have various stripped down shots. You should do Quiet Car while you have it stripped!

Wow. There's really not much there huh? Haha. I don't have any pictures or links to point you to the right direction but I could probably walk you through most of it. I'll hold off typing anything out in hopes somebody can get some pictures or diagrams. It's been a few years since I looked through the FSM. None of this is in there?

Just glanced through the fsm. No luck there.
You know, you could always hang onto that black and red interior roller for a little longer and just pull the dash out of it and see the wiring routing and procedure first hand. I'm pretty much kidding but if you and I weren't worried about snapping clips and plastics, it would almost be a viable solution. Double the work but you've got a long way to go with that silver shell anyway.
I'll keep checking back and see if I can give some insight.

Thanks for the links. My idea is simply to try and make this thread a go-to thread for people who are in a similar situation. I will be buying a lot of new parts for the car, clips, tabs, etc...and I will definitely be adding some be-quiet paint to the car before it is re-assembled to keep the noises down to a minimum once it is together. Should be a fairly tedious project, but I think I will learn something new...which I haven't done with the RX7 in years. I feel I know a lot about these cars, this project was something new to me though...so why not figure it out. Be nice to have a Silver R2 with such low miles restored back to like new condition.
Yes, this is the car from Allrotor....I knew the car when it was owned by silvr94r2 back in the day since I had talked to him back and forth quite a bit about his build and my builds at that time....always loved his car. When Allrotor put it back up for sale, even though it is going to need a lot of work on the interior and engine bay to restore it, I had a hard time saying no....just had to get the price right so that I could swallow this pill. We'll see how it goes.
