Bringing over a 96+ FD
#26
someone told me a way to import cars and use them here but i don't know if its going to work. tell me what you guys think:
you get a wrecked FD that is already totalled and get the VIN and just weld it into the brand new one that you just got from japan. i heard that some guy did that with a real S15 silvia. he just got a VIN of a totalled 240 sx and put it on and then took it to the DOT to get a new title.

see that is the easy part, just getting the VIN changed all Japenese Vehicles (to my knowledge) have the VIN in theengine bay on a peive of metal that is rivited to the rife wall. it would be increbily easy to do that, hard part is still getting it into the the U.S. then you are basicly hoem free. cause all RX 7's (3rd gens that is) look the same, and if not just show em some 99 spec ones, or ones that are modded same as the one your bought......
if that made any sense
*edit* he he he, just after i posted i thought "i wonder how old it is" well i just wanted to carlify the info, just wait it will die soon enough.........
beside does not like bringing back old threads..........

could you do the re-VIN in Canada (might be easier to import to Canada because Canada lets everything from warcriminals and terrorist in) and then just drive it over the border with a Canadian passport?

Best way to do it is simple but illegal-
Step 1-Remove Motor/Trannie from car
Step 2-Send the car to US as a PARTS CAR (Motor/Trannie can sit right next to the car and they wont care as long as its out of the car)
Step 3-Vin Swap with a US Spec FD3S and put the motor/trannie back in.
Its also a good idea to switch the car to LHD (Less attention).
You can also legally import 92-95 FD's but they have to be converted to meet epa/fed stuff by a fed approved importer.
There really is no other easy/low cost legal way of bring in a 96+ FD.
