Brembo Brakes!!!!!

Hey guys I was just wondering if there is a way that Brembo brakes of an Sti would fit my car. Also would they be a great imporvement as I know 0 to nothing about brakes and even less about the stockers. I could get a set of caliper w/ pads and rotors off an Sti for about 600 USD. Better break=less tickets right?

Anyways all the help is appreciated again I say I KNOW NOTHING!

Alex

We have a FD that fit on the stock EVO 7 brembos. Had to modify the bracket holding the calipers though. But the EVO PCD is 114.3 X 5 which is same as the FD. The STI's PCD is 5 X 100 so you will have a real tough time. If you can find a set of EVO 7/8/9 used brembos you can consider modifying it. The rotor is considerably bigger

The stock brakes work very well for everything except road racing. Unless you are road racing, stay stock, and don't waste your money.

The stock calipers with HAWK HP+ pads are a great autocross/lapping day combination. You can easily do 20-30 minute sessions with no fade.

Big brake kits are over rated for the street.

The main reason tuners install them is to offset the tiny rotor look after you install your dubs. Bigger isn't always better (especialy hardware in the spy buisness)

Plus I would question the pistion size of the STI brakes. Are they compatible with the Brembos designed for the FD? What's going to happen to your brake bias?

Checkout Stoptech's site for some tech info on brake kits & what's involved in the design.

Final thought.................

Just because you made it fit, doesn't mean it's going to work good.

Christ man, were talking about brakes. Do you want to take chances to save a couple of bucks?

that's a good point sled driver, why not get the brembo cross drilled/slotted rotors off e-bay(stock replacement) and then get the Hawk Hp's and stainless brake lines. After that you should have a good set-up and good stopping power.

This is very true. (Although I have over heated the stock brakes several times even with race pads on a certain mountain road the I frequent. However this was a highly unusual situation and not recommended for those that value their life.)

That depends on the track. Heartland Park which is closest to me will fade Hawk HP+ pads with a good driver on good tires within a few laps. Hawk HP+ pads are a good AutoX pad but I would never recommend it for road racing.

I still recomend to anyone tracking their car not to take chances, use real track pads not the upgraded street pads.

dradon03, this is just my friendly advice. In the long run, try and see what mods you NEED, and based on that, choose the appropriate product that fits. It's not such a hot idea to do it the other way around (picking out a product first, then try and make it fit the FD).

imo, brembo cross drilled and slotted rotors + HP+ or some axxis ultimate is more than enough for the street ... it makes a great difference and its a good upgrade over stock brakes.

Drilled= Cracking, Slotted is what I would look @. But I guess I am gonna stay stock unless one day I go above 400hp.

Thanks for all the help guys thread closed.
