Talking Brap Brap Brap ! ! !

Hey all :p

I love the sound of street ported++ rotor, that brap brap brap sounds deadly! My FD is stock and i want that rough idle. What must i do to get it!! Is porting the engine the only way?

Second thing i noticed when i disconnect the rubber pipe below the boost sensor, the engine starts to idle rough with that brap brap noise. It sounds mad but then it stalls. So i put it back on and then it idles normal.

Just want to know how can i make my engine idle rough?? any thoughts??? This may sound dumb so dun laugh

Race port or bridge port will give you the sound you're looking for, but the car will EAT gas and you'll never pass emissions (at least I don't think so).

Yes, porting is the only way without causing other problems to your car.

Really.. only bridge and peripheral will make it idle rough?

How about pineapples large street port. I d/l a clip of a fd with that porting in the exhaust video clips thread. Thats a large street port and it idles that mad!
I live in Sydney Australia so i can't get that pa large street port. Theres this workshop called RotorMaster www.rotormaster.com.au and the owner said street port is legal and anything after that, the bridge and j etc, is illegal. Will this port make that rough idle??

Only way to do it safely is port it, huge street, bridge or p-port. Just use it as an excuse to get more power.

OK, I have a 2nd stage street port, and lemme say that my idle is so rough that it dies if I let go of the gas and let it go below 1000 rpm. The idle shakes the whole car, and makes it sound like a helicopter. Im shooting 3-4 foot flames, and am completely stock except for a filter and of course the port and cryo. I upgraded the fuel system too much, and I think I either need to get some sort of eleectronic management or somehow lean my fuel system out. Suggestions?

Really?
Wheres the map sensor? I want to try it! Is it the same as the boost sensor?? If i disconnect it, will it damage the engine?

When i disconnect the boost sensor the car idles rough and bouncing revs from 0rpm to 1000rpm but cuts out. Is there a way to keep the idle higher so it doesn't cut out??

Soon as my engine or turbos blow, I'm going for a large street port, but for now i wanna have a fake port if you wanna call it!

I am still curious as why you would want a rough idle.

MAP sensor = BOOST sensor. Same thing. Either way don't **** with it. If you want a rough idle you could disconnect the air pump, but on OZ-spec FD's it doesn't make much difference.

take out the O2 sensor.
wire lean/rich output to the O2 sensor wires.
This will make the car thinks the idle is not right, and it will start adjusting the idle up and down.
If you flip between rich and lean at certain rate, this will make the idle goes up and down a few hundred RPM, thus your car sounds rough....

just some random thought, that is what happened to my car sometime with bad O2 sensor...

So does someone have a cure for a rough idle? Because, I recently dropped in my 2nd stage street ported motor, and my idle is rediculously rough. It also just stalls itself out if I dont feather the gas and keep it above 1000 RPM. My mech thinks its because I upgraded my fuel pump and cleaned my stock injectors which I am using. But could my fuel pump be the reason why its idling so bad? My ECU is stock, and everything else except for the motor. Air Pump, EGR valve or any of the vacuum lines leaking/malfunctioning would be my guess. I had him check everything except for my air pump, which I will ask him about tommorow. Ideas?

run 17 psi on a the stock ECU and 87 octane gas and you'll get a nice rough brap brap idle.
or you can get a race port and have it a bit rich at idle and it'll make that cool sound

Just to re-instate what other's have said....

I've seen more aggressive idles on bridgeported motors than anything else.
The reason is, it idles TOTALLY different from a stock, since the added flow increases the power band in the midrange and gives you more torque.

One guy with a prototype bridgeport by BDC (member on this forum), makes his car sound like a V8 with a monstrous cam at idle.
