brake rotors....

I have a slightly warped left front rotor, need to either turn or replace it. I have looked at all the brakes that the Store has and I was wondering if those POWERSTOP rotors are cadmium plated or have some other type of corrosion resistant finish on them.

The BREMBO cross-drilled and slotted rotors are sweet too....I will probably end up buying these, but if those POWERSTOP rotors ARE cad plated....I think that would look pretty cool....

Any opinions, pros and cons on any of the rotors the RX-7 Store sells?

I have the Powerstop cross drilled rotors on my 89 TII and I love them. Then haven't warped, cracked, nothin except stopped for about two years now. The Brembo is also a good choice, but when I was looking, I was told that they are overpriced. Now I have the task of brake work on my 95.

Powerstop

Just installed a set last month on my front. I too had a warped stock rotor. The Powerstops are plated with I beileve is cadmium. They do look great and work great. This car stops excellent with stock brakes so I can't see spending the money on Brembo's unless your motorcrossing or racing on a track. IMHO.

i bought the slotted and xdrilled off the guy on ebay as well. he also plated them from me for an extra $30 (i think $30) --
anyway, i am very happy with them - one set is official brembo, and one set is some japanese company -
anyway, i've had them for about 6 months now and have had no cracking, and they've held up great -
i went ahead and did hawk HPS pads, dot 4, SS brake lines and speed bleeders -
well worth the extra $ to go ahead and do it all and do it right!

The picture of these rotors shows a 4 bolt pattern not 5 like a 3rd gen, maybe its a generic picture but the other guy's show correct.?!?!

Uh.....unless I am mistaken, the RX-7 Store has the Brembo slotted and drilled rotors for the same price as the Powerstop rotors....

I have the powerstops, cross drilled. No problems. I think they are Zinc coated. Anyways Brembros are nice. I heard brnebro doesnt make rear replacement rotors for stock applications. But I could be wrong. I saw a sick price on these rotors at Nopi.com

I think the guy who plates them on Ebay is RaceConcepts. He sells them for $140 pair. Someone else on Ebay also sells them, but they are not plated.

i had KVR x-drilled rotors on my old MR2 Turbo that were cadmium plated in silver. sure, they were nice & shiny when i first got them, but unless you don't plan on using the brakes, the plating wears off (at least on the usable rotor surface). after a few months, the rotor surface would get spotty when the car would sit for a day or two (but once you run the brakes, it would clean them right up . the only advantage that i could see with getting the plating was that everywhere that the pads didn't contact stayed nice & silver (i.e. rust-free). i'm still waiting for my stock rotors on the 7 to wear down so i can get rid of them & their old ugly rusted centers

...my $0.02...

I bought mine off the 2nd guy from LA, don_2nv@yahoo.com, no troubles. You can email him too and not wait for the auction, he is also able to get the rears too for a little more.
