bout to buy an TT rx-7

hi, I'm bout to buy a TT rx-7.. its a black on black... 100,000 Miles... the dealership is telling me they can't sell the car cause it won't pass smog.. I think its BS.. cause the guy who traded the car in took car of his ride man... all stock... 95 model... what do you guys think? how much should I offer them?

It may very well not be able to pass smog if it's completely stock with 100k. The pre-cat is likely dead, which may have killed the main-cat in the process. I would also expect to have to replace that engine VERY soon. I'm surprised it has made it 100k with the nuclear reactor, er I mean pre-cat, still on there.

Also, even if everything is 100%, these cars have to be fully warmed up in order to pass smog. If the operator boosts during the test, it's over.....

if its in great shape...13-16k
in good shape....10-13
in not so good shape...well...u make the call...probably wanna stay away from a ragged out 3rd gen.....

the price is 10,000. the condition is freaking good! just a leak in the turbo.

Only get it if you plan on putting in a new motor and a new set of turbos right away. Make sure you budget for that. Keep your present car as a daily driver while you are overhauling this one, you will definitely need it.
