Angry people with m2 rear strut/harness bar...IM PISSED!!!!

OK, before I drop the hammer on m2, I need to consult the guys who have installed this already to make sure im not crazy, or im in the matrix or some other sh_t!!

M2 has screwed up an order before, but i decided to give them another chance,... after a late delivery, I was excited about the rear/harness bar, it came scratched up, but I looked past that and started the install....

...then ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE!!!!

MANY SERIOUS FLAWS with this thing, I mean it is unusable without re-fabrication on the bar... or bending my car frame!!!!

Here is a pic of what I am talking about.

Comments please,...... dropping the hammer on m2 is only moments away.

ohh yeah, its definetly going back... m2 has really pissed me off on this one, didnt they friggin check their work before sending this thing!!!!, ..obviously not. It is also unfathomable that they would wanna screw up my order knowing I control the vendor rating page of our club website...the crap they pulled is totaly unacceptable.

Not to defend the poor quality on that item:
I have such a bar and had no problem whatsoever. You may have been mailed a "working mule" -still unacceptable.

That sucks, it should have been adjustable (IMO). I don't beleive M2 makes any of their products and with them not stocking anything I can see how it was not nocticed before shipping it to you. Did they give you one for a FC? You can't be the only one that has one, are you?

You may have received a prototype because they were out of stock or more likely they switched manufacturers and the measurements got messed up. A nicely worded email with those pictures after a calm phone call telling them to expect it should take care of it. That's kind of hard to do. I remember my bad experience with Corksport and it royally sucks to install bad stuff when you were all stoked you just received. Give them a chance to fix it. If they don't, then you are justified on posting bad results.

thanks for calming me down goracer, I will give them a chance to make up for the mess, but if i get even a hint of attitude I will blow up on this thing....

lets not forget, they blew a previous order of mine a while back (different product), this ALREADY was a second chance...

The bar is probably made on the fly by nobody knows who and your is obviously poor. Tell M2 how royally upset you are and see what they have to say for themselves. Forward them the pics too. This assuming of course that you can actually find anybody over there...

Damian,

Did you order the bar directly from M2 or from Jason?

Damian...

could you take a picture of the bar from farther away so the bar is in the full frame?

Also, doesn't the M2 bar have that tube for the roll cage to mount to?

The reason I ask is that a shop down here in Dallas has a bar just mounted that looks like the M2 bar on the website...and he got it to fit....

actually this bar is nice, it has pre-drilled/threaded harness holes (the main reason i got it) and holes/bolts for the cargo latches (nice addition) and this thing is very strong, once again, if the bar fit right i would love it. but its hard to like somthing that I cant use. m2 is working to remedy the situation.

Really? Since when did Cusco start making HD harness bars with threaded inserts for harness eye bolts?

agreed, even though my situation with the bar is unfortunate, i will say that there is pobably no match on the current market for this bar, and i don't mind repeating myself, is is a very nice bar...and if (sounds more like when) I get one that fits, I will love it....and recomend it.

damian,

7racer is going to take some pics of my install (car is at Marvelspeed in Dallas, the one he's talking about) to see if it helps.

Mine does have the tube insert for the rollbar too, but according to M2, not every one has that. Where did you get the bar from? M2 direct? The reason I ask is that there's apparently alot of M2 knock-off products circulating.

Anyway, hope it gets worked out for you.

I would definitely advise M2 on the situation and see how they handle it.

Maybe they can just give you this bar for free, you then get a unibit and open up the holes to fit properly.
That would take a few seconds to do.

That won't work. The bar is actually welded up incorrectly and does not leave room for the nuts to go on. You can't just randomly drill holes because it still must fit over the struts.

you got it damon....and i would not want elongated holes in the bar because that might introduce lateral movement in the bar, the very thing its supposed to stop.....

yep, direct from m2

I found the same thing.....I was pretty annoyed as well. Especially about the bolt thing. I found that I could the bar on, I just had to jack up the car, pull on the bar, and hit the plate with a hammer. It finally went on. Right now I only have four bolts holding it on, because of that one hole that is too close to the bracket. About the molding - I found that if you stick a flat-headed scerwdriver in between the plate and the molding and pulled towards you, the molding will actually bend and end up on top of the bracket. It WAS a bitch to install, though - especially with all of the powdercoating they did - they actually powdercoated the bracket to the bar, which made it almost impossible to adjust the bracket/bar angle.

hmmm, good comments .... when did you get your bar, recently?

i ask because maybe our our from the same batch that got a bit messed up during production.

>>I found that I could the bar on, I just had to jack up the car, pull on the bar, and hit the plate with a hammer.

I might be possible to get the my bar on by moving and tweaking and forcing all these awkward angles, but my problem is that now you have all these weird forces being torqued in directions that don't need to be (and were not designed to be. It would all fit fine if the bar holes were just a bit wider apart AND the braket was redesigned a bit so that you can get the 3rd nut on. With these two things the bar would be awsome.
