Congrats and welcome. Good luck with the Downpipe if you do one. Remember two things for it. PB blaster and Pull the steering lol

Overall though, just enjoy!

Congrats. Make sure you read the FAQ and don't go buying stupid mods for the car until your certain its running 100%. That means spending a few hundred on a good service rather than buying say a blow off valve with that money! Don't laugh people do it all the time.

92 JDM's are plagued with problems and were the worst of the lot being the first batch out of the production line.

Good luck!

Yeah I'm speaking from personal experience. First FD was a 92 JDM and it was one problem after another. I've probably replaced just about everything in that car before I sold it...and that was the best decision I ever made.

Now I've a 00 FD and its smooth sailing....

Grats on your purchase!

Yeah, due to the steering column being in the way your DP is going to be very different from all the ones you see for sale here on rx7club. Have fun with her! I def second the suggestion to have a skilled and experienced rotary tech check her over before you start changing things. It's much better to have a stock 7 in perfect running condition than a modified 7 running like crap ^_^

get used to it man....these cars are magnets for everything bad. i am very very careful with my car: always park far away from other cars, always garage my car, drive safely etc... and i STILL got dinged AND scratched on my passenger door....and can you guess where it happened??? MY DAMN GARAGE!!! of all places... my brother, the genius that he is was moving things in the garage and scratched my FD. Im sure you know how i felt lol

congrats my friend.

Don't worry about replacing the downpipe like some people say, JDMs come pre-catless as is. And don't let people freak you out by telling you JDM cars have alot of problems. I've put 18k on mine in the last year and haven't had a major problem.

I'm southside edmonton so give me a shout if you have any problems you want a second opinion on.

I was just going to say that about the DP. And I agree, the whole "JDM's having more problems" that I've been hearing is pure fallacy, propagated by people who are jealous that you got a nice FD for so cheap (is the only rationale I can come up with). I currently own 8 JDM cars and have not had a single problem with ANY of them.

I've been driving JDM cars for ~2years, and have only done oil changes and break pads. They are by far superior to most of the junk people here (canada) try to sell. My father and father in-law also bought JDM's (after seeing the condition of my 1st 180sx).

As with any car **** can go wrong. However JDM's are not inferior nor problem prone as some may have you believe.

Look after it and have fun.

me too, people just cant see the FD as its low, i always go to great lengths to park my car far away in car parks. And still some idiot put a ding in the side fender.

First mod, make sure you replace the AST and try getting an upgraded aluminium radiator.

Importers unite

There seems to be this rising sense of "JDM hate" in Canada, or at least in Edmonton. Like you, I think it all boils down to jealousy.

There's a kid who lives a few blocks down from me that drives a done-up CRX. He's probably invested over $20k in it. He had the nerve to yell at me one day as I drove by that "JDM is crap". It was pretty obvious that he was just venting his frustration that my cars are way nicer than his and the fact that it doesn't matter how much money he dumps in his car that at the end of the day it will always be a piece of **** CRX.

There's also some clubs here that no longer allow JDM owners as members.

Anyways, I don't want this to turn into rant, but to the thread starter another piece of advise is if you're looking for parts NEVER tell a shop that you own a JDM car. They will practically hang up on you on the spot. Always just tell them you need parts for a 93 rx7.

Cool I guess we have similar tastes. I am interested on hearing your driving impressions going to an FD from a S13. I haven't driven my FD yet.
