Bought another RX-7 and Question (not a newbie)

Hey guys,

I just bought an FD yesterday (at the revolution actually) with a ton of mods and I ran into my first problem already.

I was driving it home for the first time and pulled into my parking lot and it died on me.

The car has an Aeromotive A1000 Fuel pump and it stop working, luckly it was pretty much at idle - 1500 RPMs. That thing is really loud so it was easy to diagnose the problem. Since it was dark, raining, cold, and in a parking spot, i decided to just run back to my place and work on it today.

The pump has its own power supply running to a relay then to the pump. I'm pretty sure the relay is controlled by the Haltech.

I checked the fuse on the fuel pump power line and it was fine so i took the relay off and connected the pump directly to the power line. The pump powered up and sounded fine.

So i'm left with two options: The relay itself is bad, or the relay is not getting the correct signal to open.

I don't know what kind of relay it is. I even took it to a couple autoparts stores to see if they could cross reference a part number off it. Nothing

Does anyone know what kind of power signal a Haltech E6K is suppoes to send to a fuel pump relay?

the haltech outputs for the fuel pump are pins, 1k and 1t.... however im not sure if its a positive or ground switch. you could test the wires off the haltech to see what its doing?

I would guess its the relay though,

careful gronding ecu pins you are un sure of. most ecu outputs are grounds. the should ground the relay which puts power to the pump. if you suppy ground to the relay where the haltec goes to it with a test light and the pump turns on the ecu signal is bad. if you ground the relay and it does nothing the relay is not closing. sometimes they will only fail when hot.

The relay deffinatly turns on with a ground signal because the wire is goind straight to a ground on the frame off the relay.

So if if ground both wires into the relay (not the power wires) It should should close the relay and let the power through? How does that work, it doesn't make sense, i would have thought that it needed at least some power to close the connection? I don't have a test light but i do have a multimeter, what kind of signal am i looking for? -12VDC?
