Bose Front door speaker amplifier option
Bose Front door speaker amplifier option
I wanted to share a solution for those experiencing front door Bose speaker amplifier failures. Recently, one of my front door Bose speaker amplifiers failed, and like many, I sought an in-kind replacement. After extensive research, I discovered a compact amplifier from Taramp's—the TL 500 Amplifier, rated at 90 Watts RMS at 2 Ohms, with two 45 Watts RMS channels. I modified this unit to fit precisely in the original amplifier's location, securing it with three screws instead of the original four. Additionally, I connected the head unit output to both amplifier inputs and used one of the amplifier outputs to drive the speaker. The result? It works and sounds great! You can find this amplifier on Amazon for $29.90.
Stock speakers with an Atoto aftermarket head unit. I'll take a few pictures of the retrofit when i do the other side just in case anyone on the forum is interested.

Thanks for posting this. I just finished modding my FC to bypass the lousy 15 watt amps. This got me thinking of some other mod ideas for my FC. It is similar to this except I would need just the circuit boards. In 1x100 and 2x 100 watt configurations.
I searched for them and the boards are available! Now to figure out the size of the boards and current draw.
Edit: as a side note, are the OEM Class D? The new ones are likely Class D amps. For some with quiet listening environment(s) or sensitive ears these can be a bit noisy.
I have a set of studio monitors that are class D. You can hear a slight hiss, it is manageable for me though.

Glad you found the post helpful. Hopefully others can benefit from it. As for the amp class, I'm not sure what the stocks are.
