If you're looking to replace them, get the standard speaker boxes (5 or 5-1/2", I think.) The bose cavities are loaded for or "tuned" to their speakers. They also have a 1 ohm voice coil matched to their amp--and any 4 ohm or greater speaker will not receive much power from this setup.

If they're blown or something, it might be worth buying Bose replacements. Probably still available from the Mazda dealer.

I have some non-bose speaker brackets if you are looking to get rid of the bose.

Waaaaaay too expensive.. Mine went south and I just replaced them with a good set of memphis audio speakers. Those speakers are really before BOSE was known for the superior sound quality that they have today. Back then they were good speakers, but compared to today's advancement in sound technology it is better to go with newer speakers.

Much more often than the speaker going out, the individual amplifiers that drive them go out. No sound, squealing, fuzzy sound are common syptoms. I found a place, Factory Car Stereo Repair, Inc. in Florida that rebuilt my amps and I can't believe how good my stock system sounds again. Their website also has lots of good "how to" stuff on it.

There's a few company's that repair the bose amps on the web. I have 4" MB Quart coaxials but will be replacing with Diamond Audio Hex 4 (4.5") that fit in the hole, are shallow and handle high power. Just have to figure out where to put the huge xover.
