Booyeah, passed emissions in NC!
Seems like there's recently been some discussion of passing the sniffer. It was finally time for another stupid sticker on my car, so I cringed as the mechanic stuck the sniffer up my pipe. My FD has a downpipe, a Bonez hi-flow, catback, a stage 2 street port, and a PFC, so I had no idea what the numbers would be. To my pleasant surprise:
HC(ppm): 0043 (220 std)
CO(%): 0.00 (1.20 std)
CO2(%): 15.2 ------
(ambient temps were about 95F)
No CO at all?!? And the HC's were well below standard. Kick ***! Just didn't want people to be scared of some of these mods. It doesn't necessarily make your car dirty....

Yeah, I forgot to mention that's with block-weld-fixed leaking coolant seals.....heeyyy, maybe that's the secret.....
Apparently within two years most all the counties in NC will have the emissions tax, er, I mean testing ($30 for emissions counties, $10 for others....but it's definitely about air quality!). Unfortunately it looks like that's the trend everywhere.

What exactly did you do to fix the coolant seals? Did it take long? Going for my emissions test and not that I have leaking coolant, but just good info to know in case :P Thanks, -Joe

I was just being silly about the leaking coolant seals helping, but I used the K&W block weld in the coolant as a temporary fix. Do a search on "block weld" and you'll find a ton of recent stuff. Bottom line is it truly is a miracle fix.
