Unhappy Boost Spikes

Lately I've been having boost spikes in my 93 rx7. The car will drive fine and when the boost kicks in about 40-4300 RPM the boost gauge will go over one bar then it will drop the boost and the car will slow down for a sec and build up boost again. It feels like a fuel cut but is is not. I know if you have a stock ECU you will get a fuel cut but I have a power FC. Is it the power FC telling the car to slow down so I won't blow my engine or is it something else I should be looking for? Do you think getting a stand alone boost controller will fix this problem? It sucks driving the car now because I have to watch the boost and RPM will driving it hard instead of having fun driving. I tried lowering the boost and the boost duty on the PFC. I laso tried restting the PFC but it still does it. The only thing I did before the car started acting up was change to a different motor oil, IDEMITSU. Hope you guys can help

i just did the same thing. i'm fairly sure the PFC has boost cut.

check to see if 1 of your hoses has popped off the wastegate actuator
