boost question

what is the stock boost level on an RX-7 with a street ported engine and a 3 inch dp? What about just a stock engine. no mods.

probably still about 10-8-10. With just a DP I believe you will still be bottlenecked by the cat and catback regardless.

"Stock Boost Levels" are 10-8-10 no matter what. Stock means what came from the factory, so the stock boost levels are 10-8-10.

Now, what boost levels could happen with a streetport and 3" downpipe? Well, as DavidDeco mentioned, the main cat and catback would probably still be the restrictor, so you would probably still be at stock boost levels. Maybe a little higher on a cool evening.

probably 11 or 12, much more likely with an Intake, the missing equation here maybe.

I can't speak for sure because my mods were done all at once. I get 16 [robably not healthy...but that's what boost controllers are for.]

Depending on who you ask though that might bring on problems with staying with a stock ECU. Some say it's not necessary if you don't exceed 12 and they may be right.

I would *GUESS* that Intake, CB, HF Cat, DP would put you at about 260-270 RWHP. Depending on ECU you might get another 20-30. Then you'd probably jump to a larger IC and get another 10-20. That's when you'd look to upgrade your fuel system and up your boost.

But then again, all that is out my ***

It really depends on the ECU and the amount of boost. Check this thread where they took a modified FD (not sure of the all the mods) and had it hooked up with the stock ECU, and then the Pettit boosting around 13lbs:

I don't know where to begin. My Profec B is useless - it must not be connected right. I'm usingthe PowerFC to control the boost but it's like Voodoo.

I get 16 really easily, *if* I start off the line and gun it all the way through, and then *Some* other times.

I don't seem to have a transition either....No more pattern...it goes to boost and stays there.

And then sometimes cruising, gunning it gives me no more than 5 psi. I also have a new sound. I'm pretty sure I have still a leak and some other issues.

I got an array of tests planned for this weekend when I can make some time. I can't get my hand on any pattern because there are too many variables I haven't had time to isolate. But with my datalogit now, Wideband, and the PFC I hope to have a fufilling weekend....
