boost problem

Hi all Im new here, my bud has a 93 and im trying to help him out. Heres the symptoms.
Car is stock except for intake (2 cones)

Primary works fine when the secondary is saposed to take over it feels like you let the gas off, no boost. Ive done some research and it sounds like it possible could be the control selenoid turbo control. He says its fine first thing in the morning but after a few minutes it starts happining. Im fairly new with the RX-7 so im learning all this so please bear with me. When this happins it sounds like a boost leak you can hear it venting. I checked his bov's (both good) all the clamps are good no cracks in the hoses. The small black (i beleave) vac tank infront of the intake manifold with the 2 nipples on it the point to the drivers side, one is brokin and just shoved in it stays in but its not a seal it might be releated. Im not 100% understanding of the system yet. Any help would be great. Its a great car and would liek to get it running properly for him, such a waste the way it is. Thanks guys

Hey, I have a 93 twin turbo rx7, its automatic but that has nothing to do with boost, anyhow yes there are alot of people who experience this problem for some reason the stock turbos or should i say the secondary turbo feels like it never kicks in, if your friends car is stock its prolly running max psi around 10-13 psi? yes?

I raced a car a couple of days ago and I burned him but it felt that the 2nd turbo never really kicked in now i couldnt hear or feel the pull ,people say that its usually a boost leak which you can easily fix by just getting a diagnostic test like a light dyno.

I need to get mine checked but Its really not a concern because I am going to go single turbo very soon.

my advice to you is to tell him to replace the vac lines, see if he could fix that nipple problem and if all else fails take it to get a diagnostic test.

The car pulls good till the secondary is saposed to kick in then it litterly dies, totaly guttless he ran a 17 in the 1/4. Theres absolutly no power at all, feels like it has 80hp max. He dosnt have his boost gauge installed yet, will soon hopefully so i have an idea on his boost levels.

replace the broken solonoids. it needs to be a tight seal.

it could also be an actuator issue....if my thinking is proper.

The little black tank is actually the pressure tank, and it needs to be air-tight. So if it's broken, that will cause the problem. I suggest replacing that first, then look into the solenoids. There could still be a problem with solenoids. I read recently about a problem where the solenoid only failed when it got hot (i.e., when the car had been running for a while). Good luck.

I had the same problem for about the last 6 months. I took it to Independent Honda Mazda and the mechanic there said that my vacuum hoses were put on incorrectly and some parts even put in backwards. Not having much mechanical knowledge (yet) my best bet was just having someone who knows rotaries take a look at it because it could be one of several problems.

Here is the link you need. Sounds exactly like the problem I was having. Read the whole thing for the part number and where to order the part from.
