OK, I just bought my 93 R1 and I took it out and ran it through the gears and checked by boost pattern and it is 12-8-12. Is that normal? This car was built by Pettit with a new street-port and some other stuff in sig. Except the DP was not installed. I don't know why and I am trying to contact them because it was paid for but I still have the stock DP with pre-cats and all. Will that affect my boost pattern? I have an ECU on order as well as getting my DP from Pettit but I am just curious to see if my pattern in ok or if I have a problem somewhere with boost leak. Thanks

 

10-8-10 is normal. What kind of boost gauge is it?

I think you're going to want to put that ecu on asap.

 

As stated above, 10-8-10 is the stock boost levels.

Check the calibration of the boost gauge. When the car is off, where is it resting?

Since the weather has been cool in MO the last week or so, you will see some higher boosts due to the colder air.

People debate whether or not the stock ECU can handle the Air/Fuel ratio for 12 PSI. I would say to stay off WOT until you get an ECU hooked up to be on the safe side.

 

It is a Pettit Boost Gauge. I believe by Autometer.

 

I heard that early 93s had 12 psi max. I heard it from some fellow socal7 members, but I have never done any research to prove it. Sounds like a possibility. I don't see an upgraded ECU in your list.

 

I am not sure about the 12 psi boost max. My car idles at 15 vacumn and when I shut it off it goes to 0. I have an ECU on order but I have not received it yet.

 

With a street port, that's about right for your vacuum.

I don't really see a problem with any of the numbers you have posted. Just sounds like the cooler weather we have had the last week or so has spiked up your boost a little.

I would take it easy until you get that new ECU installed.

 

Yeah, I would definitely watch that 12psi. ECU would be soon needed.
