Exclamation Boost issues

I know this topic has been covered becaused I've searched under my direct title, but no one seems to have the same problem I have. My car is only boosting 2-0-2. I'm thinking its a major vacuum leak but I can't seem to find it on the car. I haven't taken off the UIM yet due to time restraints because of school and work. Does anybody have any other suggestions or hints as to what could be wrong? The engine is new, the turbos seem good visually, and I have the efini y-pipe so it can't be a leak in there. I just would like some other suggestions and advice so when I actually take off my UIM I'll know what I'm looking for. Thanks in advance.

Check the intercooler couplers before you take off the UIM

I just checked and
I have small cracks at the end of the intercooler couplers. Would this cause a huge boost lost such as this? It doesn't look like there are cracks anywhere else on the couplers.

When you say 'at the end', do you mean it's inside the clamps? If so, yeah that's your boost leak.

Do you get a nice 'pssht' when you pull the line from the vacuum tank (engine off, a few minutes after driving)? The tank can be seen directly to the drivers' side of the alternator, and you can pull this hose with a set of long narron pliers.

Yes I mean a little bit under the clamps and at the end on the couplers. I'll try pulling the vacuum line off the vacuum chamber tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestions keep them coming please.

dabi - I just got through battling what you're going through. Unfortunately, what you're dealing with is going to take a little time. But the work is not hard. Somewhere in the stickies at the top of the 3rd Gen forums there is a way to research into common problems.

One of the common problems is boost leak issues. Its an excellent thread to read and understand. Print it off and follow along. Its right on the money. Mine was exactly the most common boost area problem ... the first coupling at the Y-Pipe.

Of course, if you hear a loud whooshing from under the hood when you're getting on it, and only getting 2 psi ... its an obvious boost leak.

Hopefully you've got a 2nd means of transportation and can leave your car in pieces under the hood. In reality, if you woke your *** up early on Saturday, I bet you could find the problem before noon. Getting a replacement will take time. I'm no good at posting links, maybe somebody else can find the topic, and post a link. It has excellent pictures explaining everything.
