Aftermarket seat ?'s

For fun the other day I tried to put some sparco turinos in my brothers 93 but when we trial fitted it, they seemed to be too big on the side bolsters to fit in the car with the doors closed. Him and I are both new to the RX7 game but we had no problems in his inpreza with the turinos or me in my MR2 with my brides. I'm just curious if the RX7's are kind of limited on what the can have in them in terms of after market seats. We were thinking of re-wrapping the stock leather ones but so far the local place whats a crap load of money to re do them in black and tan micro suede. any help would be great.

The FD does indeed have only a limited number of aftermarket seats that will fit without "significant modification". A search should tell you which seats fit well, or you could contact some of the rx-7 specific shops to see what they think. I know that Sparco Evos fit perfectly...

my favorite fd friendly seats are the new bride lowmax series, specifically the ones that i posted. Unfortunately, they are very expensive but they do offer brackets for the fd

I agree that they are expensive but they do offer a bracket for the FD. Bride part # R039LR for the Right side and part # R040LR for the Left side. MSRP is $170.00 per seat rail.

Now the only down side to the Bride seats is there weight limit, and if your over 200lbs your SOL .

IM pretty sure you meant $1700 , because I'll be having 2 pairs if they're only 170

170 for one rail, not the seat. (Or at least that is my understanding)

Thanks for the input guys, I used to have a set of the evos in my gti but I wasnt a fan of the bucket style of seats, that and I'm only 140lbs and they were tight on me. Yeah those brides are nice but I at 1700 I'd rather get a set of coilovers.

Anyone tried to fit the Buddy Club racing seats into an FD?

They have two different width sizes and I am pretty sure the smaller one would fit easily. The larger one is 20" at the widest part, if I remember correctly. I have a link for them on my home PC but, not here where I am now. They are priced around $360 each and weight 5Kg, 11 lbs.

I am tempted to try the larger one for fit, wondering if anyone has or not?

Edit:

Here is the link for them:

YOu're right. But it depends on which rail you're getting. There's 2 that'll work with the GIAS seat.

1 is the LR which is the one you're talking about which cost 170(msrp 190)

The other 1 is the MO which is $155.

why dont you just find a set you like, find the size of the dimensions on the website, then use a tapemeasure?

I'm 6'1 and 195lbs and I fit just fine in the EVO's.

However, I have Momo seats. I can post some pics later if you like

I think the larger Buddy club will work the measurements seem close to the stock seats
IIRC? Funny the smaller seat seems to be made for a child??

I just installed a Torino 2 un my FD and to make a long story short it doen't fit very well. The side bolster hits the driver side door panel, when the door is closed (Not to much of a problem though). I had to remove the driver side speaker panel in order to get the seat to slide back far enough for me to fit (I'm 5-09"). Also, there is no room to mount the seat belt buckle in its original position.

Some seats are like that. I used to install a ChargeSpeed kevlar seat in my 240. They're pretty much the same size as the zeta 3 but the side bolster is hitting the door panel.

What kind of rail did you use? It should have a mount in the side to mount the stock buckle. Im using Bride rails and it comes with mounts for the stock buckle.
