which boost gauge?

I can't remember which autometer boost gauge I purchased last time, but I remember it displayed -10psi to 15psi I think.
I can't find the same one, but here is what they offer now, which would be the best choice? I am not planning on cranking the boost up to more than 12 psi.

Boost, 20-psi Boost/30-In.Hg.(Vacuum) 2- 5/8"

Boost, 0-35 psi (Boost Only) 2-5/8"

Boost, 20-psi Boost/30-In.Hg.(Vacuum) 2-1/16"

Boost, 30-psi Boost/30-In.Hg.(Vacuum) 2-1/16"

Boost, 0-35 psi 2-1/16"

Do not get a boost only gauge, because often times vacuum is more important for diagnosing problems than boost is.

I have the 30 in hg to 30 psi gauge, and it seems accurate enough for my needs. I'm sure the 20 psi-30 in. hg would be fine, but my gauge was in when I bought the car. Basically, it's up to you, my only suggestion is get a gauge that goes to at least 20 in hg.

autometer gauges, despite their popularity, seem to be notoriously unreliable (inaccurate).

I do not know that for a fact (not having owned one) - and am entirely basing that statement on the quantity of complaints I have heard over numerous forums.

If you're on a budget - sure, go with what you can afford.

If you are at all concious of quality - buy defi

yea, except the only problem is that defi will not ship product to the US right now.

I'm waiting on a gauge from them and it may be a little while...

Defi gauges are top quality, I love 'em.

DaiOni is also right about autometer, I've heard my fair share of complaints as well. With these cars, we can't afford to be inaccurate.

Been using the Autometer Boost gauge for over 2 years without any deviance. The gauge is only as good as the install.

My gauge is also an autometer, and it's been in the car for a little over a year ( i think) I've had no problems with it. with my profec off, it records a solid 7psi at WOT, exactly as it should.

You're most likely right. However, a friend of mine had one on his WRX, i don't doubt his install at all, he's good about that sort of thing. He may have just got a bad one, or maybe their quality has gone down in the past year or something. Just sharing my experience

There isn't a whole lot to go wrong with these things. If the gauge starts having problems, the first thing people should check is the vacuum line. 9 times out of 10, if there is a problem, the problem is most likely with the line and not the gauge.

I had the Autometer CF series 2 1/16 30 in/hg to 20 PSI boost gauge as well and I installed it with no problems. I got the 20 PSI because I dont think I'll ever go over 20 PSI on this gauge, plus it's easier to read and the increments are larger.

The only thing you'll have to get extra:

-1/8" female NPT adapter with hose barb fitting (1/8" gauge fitting hooks up to this)

-a section of vacuum hose 5/32"

-2 small hose clamps for 5/32" vacuum hose

The length of vacuum hose you need depends on how long your autometer nylon hose is. All I needed for mine was a 4 inch length of vacuum hose. I think I had a length of 6' autometer nylon vacuum line. I used on of the nipples on the UIM and clamped everything down. According to the Autometer gauge I have a good 10-8-10-8 boost pattern.

We're not talking about a guage for the space shuttle... its a mechanical boost guage. You can get a guage of perfectly appropriate quality from SPI (or PFS, same thing)... for about 80 bucks. Theres no excuse for a $200.00 boost guage....

I have a autometer phantom boost gauge in my car right now. Had it for about 3 years. How am I supposed to know if it's working properly or not with correct boost numbers without getting another boost gauge. Sometime soon I'am switching to a defi gauge, better safe than sorry. I hope Jason has soem in stock when it comes time since that guy said they aren't coming back to the states for awhile.

I don't doubt that autometer gear is good - otherwise they wouldn't have been around for so long and sold so many units.

However... the sheer number of complaints leads me to the conclusion that they have some quality control issues. If you've got a good one - great.

Defi have established themselves as producers of precision equipment - in a flooded market. I guess one thing that works in their favour is that they are so focused on the one product - whereas many other companies only make gauges as a small part of their catalog.

what about the autometer digital water temp gauge that requires a sender. What is a sender and how is it hooked up?
Also, full pillar dual gauge pod vs. standard dual gauge pod? Any opinions?
