Angry Boost Creep Help!!

I just installed my exhaust and I am overboosting like 14psi at full throttle at 5500+rpms.
My current mods are:
1)Basic reliablilty mods (AST, vaccum hoses, NGK plugs, Fluidyne radiator, Dual Crooked Racing Oil Coolers, Synthetic Oil)
2)HKS 3" Downpipe (looking for a 4")
3)HKS 4" Titanium Exhaust (downpipe back)
4)Apexi intake
5)Apexi PFC (not tuned after adding the exhaust)

Anyone running this exhaust having these problems??
What can I do to remedy this problem??

Thanks in advance
Jason

porting your wastegate will solve the problem. it has worked many times. boost pills may work, but i dont think they are as efficient. Port your wastegate and the problem will be resloved. im not sure, but i think i heard people talking about boost controllers helping the problem.

simple as this, porting the wastegate will solve the problem, other ways may reduce it or just be temporary.

good luck

You stated that you have not yet tuned the PFC. I think that the boost creep may be due to incorrectly set boost control solenoid duty cycles.

You need to look into the duty cycles for the boost control solenoid, if you haven't lowered them, then you need to lower the percentages. Read pages 27 & 28 in the PFC (I assume that you have the commander), these pages cover how to change the base duty cycle to control boost quite well.

If you get to the point where your cannot lower the base duty any further and you are still experiencing boost creep, then you will have to do something else (like porting the wastegate). Porting the wastegate is one way to go. There is significant work associated with that.

I took a cue from one of cewrx7r1's posts (thanks Chuck) and used an orifice plate in my exhaust between my DP and MP. Cured my boost creep and took about 60 minutes.

Just bought a small sheet of 22 gauge stainless steel and cut out a shape in the pattern of the exhaust gasket (between DP and MP). Drilled two holes in for the bolts to go through and drilled the orifice hole (2-1/8" in diameter). Slipped it between the DP and MP with two gaskets (you could use high temp sealant, Chuck did and it worked fine, I had an extra gasket sitting around). Note that the size of 2-1/8" could vary from set up to set up and you might need to make it smaller or larger depending on your needs. Should be a good place to start though.

Obviously, a lot less work than porting the wastegate (since you have to take the turbos off to do that). Porting the wastegate may be a better (or ideal) solution, but it may not fix the boost creep problem.

Since you're in Dallas, you could take it to Rotary Performance. They could help you out with tuning the PowerFC at least.

because you have removed back pressure from turbo by fitting large exhaust your waste gate cannot vent efficiently any more (it's too small) you need a bigger waste gate usually after market, my brother in law had a similar problem we welded the wastegate shut and plumbed in a external 42mm (1.65") it now holds the desired boost.
