Boost Check without Boost Guage
I realize I can get a boost guage and I know that isn't expensive or difficult; but is there any good way to check the usual boost pattern with the tach?

To check the operation of the turbos, you need some way to monitor the boost.

Ok,
I realize the tach has nothing to do with the turbos...but the tach does peak at a certain RPM at a certain time with a certain amount of gas.
So I thought maybe someone had enough 'pre'-cognition with the FD to give me some idea of what I should see at what time while flooring it.
Thanks anyway.

Well... when you get the boost gauge you'll see 10-8-10 if it's working properly. Almost anyone here has the 'pre'-cognition about the FD to tell you the tach won't tell you crap with boost. Other than transition is around 4500 rpm. Is that what you needed?

If you want to know about your boost, but don't want to install a gauge, do this: Go to the local parts store and buy the cheapest mechanical boost gauge they have. You can probably get one for $15. Buy 8 feet of vacuum hose in the diameter that will fit the nipple on your intake manifold. You will probably have to buy something to adapt the vacuum hose to your boost gauge. Maybe a smaller diameter hose. Run the hose from the intake nipple under the passenger corner of the hood, and thru the passenger window. Now you can test your boost, and you didn't have to install a gauge.
