Unhappy Body Shop Lost Key To Wheel Locks

I'm pretty mad right now, this past weeekend I went to rotate my tires and discovered my wheel key was missing. As far as I can tell these are factory wheel locks installed at the dealship. The problem is the body shop did the work on my car at least a year and a half ago and if they kept it by mistake its was long gone when I called them today. If you know of anyone or have an unused one your willing to part with take a photo and and I will PM you my email address.
Someone help a brother out here!
Thanks Terry7

Not hard, take it to a shop and ask them to take them off for you. After that, go buy a new set that has a key. Most shops will have a tool that can get them off without having the key.

You can't just buy "any" FD wheel key. They are different. Most likely, you will have to order one from a Mazda Dealer. Call Ray Crowe with your VIN#, and should be able to get you a new key.

Im retarded and have done this 3 times before. Take out your socket set and find a 12pt socket thats just barely too small and hit it on with a hammer, then remove the lock. The fun part is getting the hammered on socket free from the lock so you can do the other wheels. Then you need another set of locks or 4 regular lugnuts if you dont live in the ghetto where people will jack your ****. Just an option if no one can help you find the right key.

Tire shops usually carry a special tool to handle that kind of stuff. I'm sure they won't mind taking those off for you.

oh duh i just remembered, the last time i lost mine i took it to a mazda dealership and they took it off, they had a full set of the keys. sometimes they will want $$ for the service though. call around and find one that will do it free of charge.

Same thing happened to me a few years gack. I took the car back to the shop and explained what happened. My mechanic pulled out a small cardboard box that had a few keys in it. Mine was in the box - problem solved.

If the shop doesn't haveit/can't find it then contact a dealership and order a key. Based on the VIN number, Mazda should be able to produce a key for you.

Good luck.

Ditch the wheel locks, the thieves can get the wheels off with them anyway but you can't.

12pt socket thing works like a charm...

agreed 100% the only think you can do to really slow them down so they give up is run all different locks and different sized locks on each rim.

there are only 5 different wheel lock styles on mazdas, and every mazda dealership has the master set. go to the dealer and have them take them off for you.

if you lived in NJ id do it for you.

I agree with Turbojeff. I left mine on the car and took a test drive. The centrifugal force threw it off. Went to tire shop and they removed for maybe $10.00. I had the original bolts without the key and used them.

Never again.
