Just saw this thread so I also wanted to confirm the fitment of the airpump near the y-pipe. Here is a shot of my BNR's just installed on my stock motor. You can see the air pump hose comes around the y-pipe coupler. This work was done by a very experienced rotary mechanic in CA where emissions are vital.

Yeah, I had Fighters Garage do a street port for me.

Owww...

Stock.

Intercooler.

Get rid of it! (or get A/I)

That will NOT be able to cool you enough at anything close to the boost your new turbo's are capable of... (I keep mine on the .8 boost controller setting for the most part, because my GReddy SMIC can't efficiently handle the cooling above 1 bar.. that's why I'm getting A/I asap)

Otherwise... *borat voice* Verry niice!

I realize it's a little/way late, but I would recommend using the efini y-pipe. everything bolted up perfectly and it's very easy to remove the crossover pipe later when working.

Any reason to wrap the pipe, but omit the heat shield?

Greddy, Blitz, PFS, ASP, M2 are all good. Just make sure you get the correct duct. IIRC, the Blitz is the only one of those that retains the stock duct.

Why don't you see people with BNRs sending in an efini y pipe for modification rather than the stock one? wouldn't it still yield that extra pound of boost people claim to have?

I just did that.Main reason was for the security of the joint and a much easier fit with the airpump.I just finished the install last night. No idea how much boost it will ultimately make, but just playing it is making 80kpa full throttle,4th gear.Note that I run with a factory catalyst in place.

I went with the Efini y-pipe for structural integrity as well as overall efficiency. I figure my EBC and full exhaust will help take care of the top boost pressure. I looked at it more as a security/peace of mind mod than as a power mod. Everything else I got was planned to work together in order to achieve max reliable power.

Unfortunately I didn't take into consideration IAT's... so now I'm playing catch up and working on fabbing a working duct for my GReddy/Trust SMIC, then purchasing an A/I system.

While the BNR's are essentially a plug and play application, you don't reap the full benefit from them until you are at 1.1-1.3bar. However in order to get there, and stay there, safely requires some additional thought and planning which should encompass your entire setup.

Just my $.02

Correction. Without the correct ducting my SMIC can't handle the cooling. I'll be making a more effective duct here shortly, should be a solid improvement, I can report back (and pass along templates/ducts) if people wish.

I have the Pettit duct, and while you have to do some cutting it works very well witht the Greddy smic. Now all I need is to get the BNRs... haha! Will the crossover pipe being metal rather than plastic raise the AITs considerably?

regarding the efini y-pipe, some may not be using it with the bnr upgrade because they are thinking of a larger intercooler. the aftermarket intercooler pipe from the turbo to the intercooler, that comes with such kits, will not have a flange to mate to the efini pipe as it was probably designed to mate to the non-efini y-pipe. of course some modifications can make it work but it definitely won't be plug-n-play. i went with the asp intercooler for my bnr's.
