BNR life @15 psi

Hey, I was wondering if anyone has an estimate for how long the BNR Stage 3 sequential twins will last while running 15psi?

I went to get my car tuned, a while back, and the tuner guy told me that most of the turbos they see running at that level will usually last about 6 months or so. This seems pretty low to me, so I figured I'd ask.

Who is this 'tuner guy'? Does he know anything about BNRs?

The stockers would probably last longer than that at 15psi.

I'd get another tuner.

The BNR Stage 3's really come to life at 15+ psi.

I had my FD tuned to (about) 12-13psi before installing my BNRs. After the install I saw no noticeable difference in power between the HT12's and the BNRs at that level. I immediately had my car re-tuned for 16psi once the BNRs were on.

This was back in April that I had the BNRs put on. I ran 16psi all day, every day for the entire summer w/o any issues. In January (I think it was Jan, perhaps it was December) I had a MASSIVE VMIC installed and I cranked up the boost as a result. Now I'm running 18-19psi (all day, every day) and the turbo's are handling that just fine. I would go higher but I'd start pushing over 85% IDC, and that's just more trouble then it's worth...

If I understand it correctly (this is just my personal opinion!) the stock twins are happy from 10psi-15psi (max), the BNRs are happy from 15psi-20psi(max). You'll be able to run BNRs all day, every day, at 15psi just like they were stock twins at 10psi.

Yeah BNR stage 3's are meant to run higher boost levels. I beleive goodfellafd3s was runnin 19lbs-21lbs on his just fine.

Ok, nice. Thank for the input guys. I new the BNR's came alive at 15psi+, but I had just never heard anything about longevity.

I forget the tuner's name, but he's at Forged Performance in Portland, OR. From what I've gathered, on this forum and by just calling around, they are about the best place to get rx-7's tuned around here.

On a side question, would it be safe to up the boost to 18 with out AI? My plan was to set them at 15 for now, then get a retune and bump it to 18 or so once I get the AI.

Depending largely on your IC setup/AIT's and fuel quality I would say no. AI is HUGE when it comes to pushing higher boost. I'd keep it at 15psi until you can get a working Water/Meth Injection setup installed and running. Otherwise you're really going to be playing with fire... (I put the Aquamist 1s kit in mine shortly after installing the BNRs and boosting to 16psi. I couldn't have been happier).
