Blown Turbos Looking For Opinions
Last friday at the drag strip I had done 3 passes with no 2ndary boost on the first two runs which I already had a feeling that my turbos were gonna go. On the 3rd run right on the launch the car got to 3k RPMs and all the air pressure was dumped and the car just felt like it hit a brick wall. The car idles and runs fine. I even get 4psi of boost until 3k when all the air is dumped and if I hold the throttle past that a really bad noise and response comes from the engine and I get no power to accelrate.
Only reason I had to drive it after this was so I could get home without a tow. Anyways I got tons of oil shooting through the intercooler piping and even through the charge relief so I know the turbos are done. I'm just wondering if the not being able to accelerate past 3k rpms should be normal for having blown turbos. I would think it would cause some issus but running the car NA(disconnected intercooler pipe) it runs differently. Also compression checks out and the car is gonna go through a complete facelift in the engine area since now I have a reason to take it all apart and go fancy with it.

So you have disconnected teh IC piping and it accelerates past 3k?? If it only does it with the piping hooked up I would suspect you are just flooding the engine with oil causing the plugs to basically foul out. Ive seen them leak pretty bad in the past but never where anything like this would happen. Basically it would just smoke so bad once the secondary came on that any car behind you on the road would have to come to a complete stop because you literally couldnt see. You may have other issues with your setup.

Hmm the oil theory had crossed my mind because the first time the turbos blew the car was able to drive back to the shop but once there it couldn't start up again due to the plugs being drowned in oil but after cleaning them and replacing the turbos it all started up fine. This time around it isn't as much oil but definetely still wasting a good amount. Considering my engine is filthy on the side now.

It's actually due to a bad o-ring between the throttle body and elbow. Ever since these turbos started to leak oil its come out the bottom a tiny bit at a time...now it seriously drenched everything on that side. Shoulda mentioned that I guess.
