How can I tell if my tranny goes out?
sounds like a dumb question but I think it might have. Its slow to go in to gear and it make like a whineing sound.

I assume you have an auto? Most often any time a auto begins to act odd that's not good news. You could check the fluid level but normally if its doing strange things the damage is done. You might also check the smell and color of the fluid. It should be readish, if its blackish and smells burnt it may be damaged.

Sorry to hear that. But the auto transmissions used on the FDs come directly out of the old MPV 3.0 It was thought for steady cruisin' at 55MPH over a long distance. That is what you apparently NOT did

Means: They never have been especially adapted to the FD and therefore go crunch quite fast. At least that is the experience down here in Europe.

cheers
Patrick

Ok now Im almost positive its gone.
I started driving yesterday and I slowed down to take a corner and then tried to accelerate through it (going like 25 mph) and it just went up in rpms but went nowhere. It just kept rollin. I stopped it and turned it off. Then started it up and put it in drive nothing, put it in reverse, nothing tried 1 & 2, tried hold on and off, still nothing.
I finally put it in neutral shut it off and pushed it some and somthin clicked so started it up and put it in drive and it went but slowly and it wouldnt go into a higher gear.
I went about 20 mph all the way back home and in my garage it sits.

So what do you think? Tranny gone?

i think there was someone offering everything you needed for the conversion in the classified section here. otherwise, find a local rotary specialist as there is quite a bit involved.
