Blown coolant seal w/o exhaust bubbles?
Blown coolant seal w/o exhaust bubbles?
Hey guys...I seem to having symptoms of a blown coolant seal, but it seems that the one sure-shot test is not failing, which is causing me a bit of confusion.
Running Evans coolant. I hear the water rushing noise coming from the passenger side seat. I get the annoying coolant buzzer all the time, and it's getting more frequent. It used to happen every time without fail on cool-down laps at the track or when I was cooling the motor down while on the freeway...almost like the rapid cooling of the coolant would cause it to contract faster than it could handle possibly? After a minute or so, the buzzer would go away, so I thought maybe that was it. When i run a pressurized cap, however, I get a significant amount of smoke at startup (didn't notice it with a zero pressure cap since the coolant was probably not being pushed into the chamber), and when I tried using one of those yellow funnels, I noticed a steady stream of bubbles coming from the fill cap. I then took it in for final testing of exhaust gases coming from those bubbles, but the smog machine didn't pick up any! It was verified to work, so then I started getting confused since I though common rx7club wisdom stated that the exhaust gases in the coolant was a sure test.
Is it possible that a seal fails in a non-exhaust or combusion stroke area of the housings?
