Can someone give a definition or a wastegate? I though it was to start opening when theirs too much boost pressure produced acting like its a safty device for your engine?

You are correct...it actually starts opening before you reach target boost pressure...its an active device that regulates exhaust gas entering your turbine housing.

HKS SSQ BOV, FTW!!!

I'm fairly certain mine has the purple insert, so it may sound a little better than some others.

The wastegate is there to regulate boost pressure.

When the boost level reaches a preset position (usually determined by a spring, or other means), the wastegate opens, allowing exhaust gases to go out into the exhaust, and bypass the turbine wheel. Thus, maintaining a constant boost level.

your wastegate CLOSES when you are off throttle...why, because the charge pressure is decreasing.

Okay so if your throttle plate just closed your wastegate would close also due to the change in vacuum correct? I'm still not so sure on the non use of a dump valve, seems like it will make your turbine last longer with one. I found information saying that its not exactly stressing the turbine but the bearings. Correct anything I said if its incorrect because like I said I'm new to turbo stuff.

Just shop around there are a million places that sell them on the net.

Fixed

I like the way my car performs without one...quiet and responsive. Show me evidence of bearing failure due to lack of a BOV. I'm not so much into the look at my car, hear me coming.

If it fails my turbo is rather cheap to rebuild.

If my BOV would fail, my motor and turbo aren't cheap to rebuild...lots more labor and down time involved.

If the BOV fails.... nothing will happen. its either stuck open or closed. so its the same as no BOV or boost leak.

Right stuck open and over spinning a turbo is just like running without one

they are very popular and have BOVs with adjustable sounds and volumes.

I c, What vehicles come without a dump valve? All the Mitsubishi's I have seen come with one. I guess its just preference, but even if there is or isn't evidence for turbine problems I would use a dump valve.
