Blow OFF V's (BOV's)

Hey I going to change off my BOV soon. I was wanting to know what some of you guys are using on the stock twins. I want a little louder than sotck sound. I have a large street port and full exhaust, PF Intercooler, upgraded fuel system and a few other things also. I am tunned at 12 and 15 pounds by Chris at Banzia Racing!! Help me out here!!!! Thanks Chad

Any of them will do. You need to figure out where you are going to install it. If you aren't going to weld a flange onto one of your IC pipes, then you need to purchase a BOV which has a flange in the kit which can take a hose from the stock BOV location.

+2 Greddy Type RS

Some one should post a nice vid of an FD with a type RS VS SSQV. There seems to be nothing in terms of rx7 type RS on youtube.

You can't go wrong with Greddy. Both greddy and tial should sound relatively similar. they have similar body structure and are both valve design rather than piston unlike Blitz. Altho i don't believe Tial makes one with a kit to direct fit it to our car? Might need to get the universal flange weld onto IC piping.

I personally have and like the HKS SSQ, but i bought it with the purple insert already instead of the original silver. and i don't have the high pitch bird chirp at all. Mine pretty much sounds like stock except louder.

here's a website that has different BOV sound recordings. but keep in mind on different car, running different size turbo and different boost will vary the sound of the same BOV.

http://www.935motorsports.com/bovmediaX.htm

here's pics of the the HKS inserts.

hope that helps~

And you don't worry about compressor surge at all?

I feel sorry for your turbine, you might wanna check it for free play. How many lbs of boost are you pushing?

Check out the synapse synchronic bov.... their all over youtube....also their waste gate and fuel pressure regulator are out too, their stuff tends to be a little steep though. Good luck on the search for the perfect pshhhh!!!

Stock twins are weak enough as it is, I don't think they need any help to facilitate their demise.

So you don't have any way of venting all that boost you just built? The waste gate is suppose to not let you over boost.....the BOV is suppose to release the pressures after a boost build when the throttle plate is closed.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MkkA-vfGWg0

The noise it makes after the BOV venting is the turbine spinning it in reverse or stalling it (putting resistance on the turbine) making the compressor wheel spin slower which is causing the moving parts of the turbine to move around in the housing. Its not good for the turbine all together but if your not having that issue then don't worry.

If you can get them, Synapse Engineering Synchronic BOV. Very responsive, the sound rocks and they have a pop off valve feature that can be utilized later once the company comes up with a control module

I have a HKS, i dont know which model, but it sounds nothing like any of the other HKS sounds already posted. It doesnt have such a raspy sharp sound, more just like a big woooosh. But is very loud, maybe even louder than my exhaust. I dont really mind because my car isnt a daily driver.

Trust me when I say I am not worried one bit, I understand the mechanics behind forced induction. I have run with a BOV and prefer to run without it. After reading your post I feel you do not understand the mechanics entirely, so we'll have to part ways "each to his own"

I will however leave you with food for thought...

what spins the turbine wheel is exhaust gas. guess what is missing all together when I close the throttle plates...
