Blockweld Radiator Flush, Got ??'s Need help

Hi everyone I am going to do the blockweld trick, I know its a temporary fix, nonetheless I am still going to try it. I believe my o-rings are toast because my exhaust blows white smoke till the end of time. My overflow tank gurgles and spews to the floor, and I am getting rough idle and hard starting. Not only that but I noticed when installed and then removed my new plugs the rear rotor spark plugs looked normal with carbon and all, but what was odd is the front plugs where clean as a wissle. I checked for spark and spark was present in all 4. Which leads me to believe the front rotor is getting coolant on the plugs and cleaning the carbon off. The other odd thing is I don't notice any champagne bubbles in the coolant neck. The other thing I noticed was different compression reading in each rotor. Excellent compression in the rear @100psi, front was @75psi three bounces in each rotor. Well anyhow here is my question.

Noting in the steps to doing the blockweld it says use purple power degreaser, but no one in any auto part's store seems to know what the hell it is. Well anyways there is of course the usual prestone coolant flush, and super flush kit. My question is can I get by using the prestone stuff in place off the pp degreaser. My next question is the step that requires you to put the flush kit in the heater hose. Can someone explain that process and note if this is a required step here is the quote from lightning in a world of thunder

"Fill the cooling system with plain water and drain again. I temporarily installed a prestone cooling system flush kit in the heater hose WITHOUT cutting the factory hose by using a 2” length of heater hose on the water pump nipple to the prestone tee, and the factory hose side to the other end of the tee. You may be able to get away without installing the flush tee, but you have to get all traces of antifreeze out of the system for the CRC to work. "

Also I was thinking about how many people where later having problems with plugged heater cores. And the obvious solution to me was to simply clean the heater core, and by pass it with simply connecting the two tubes together. And then reconnect it. What do you guys think dumb idea.

Thanks everyone for your help and advice fellow rotor heads.

I did some research on this a while back, but my problem actually wound up being something else entirely, so I never applied it to my car. But from my understanding, the reason for the Purple Power Degreaser (I've also heard that Simply Green is equivalent in strength) is to get every ounce of coolant out of the car. Coolant has lubricants which makes the blockweld less effective if you still have any in your cooling system when applied. Everyone who I e-mailed or PMed said it's important to flush your system until you get absolutely clear water coming out.

Okay so its safe to go fourth and pour simply green in place of purple power degreaser.

I used the Block Weld procedure about two years ago and I only saw white smoke for the first few minutes after startup. If you are seeing white smoke to 'eternity' then my guess is that it will be a short lived maintenance procedure. I heard that it doesn't work for all engines. I could drive to work and back ~15 miles and the next morning I would have to add ~1 cup of coolant (sometimes I would not have to add coolant for a week). No pattern so I finally decided to get a rebuild, which I haven't gotten back yet. Hope it works for you.

Thanks, I am going to try straight water over the summer. I hear the problem with the blockweld stuff is that if you use radiator coolant afterwards it will eventually eat at the fix. But distilled water should be fine, although it is going to corroide the **** out of the housing. I can live with that, just looking for something to get me through the summer, and then I can put a rebuild or a reman in during the winter time. To damn hot right now to even attempt a rebuild!!

Anyways I found the purple power stuff searched all over and then came across it in Walmart. Any more tips please?? I know there has got to be a hell of a lot more people that have experience with it. Did a search but primarily was wanting the two questions aboved answered about bypassing the heater core, and also if the steps in the quotation marks are necessary, sure the hell is confusing reading it.

Dont run straight water, use something like 70% water.
