Blitz intake: w/ or w/o airbox shroud?
OK - I'm not exactly sure of the name of the piece I am talking about here. It is in the very front of the engine bay, is held in with two 10mm bolts, is plastic, and directs airflow into the airbox. I am going to be replacing the stock airbox with the Blitz intake, and I need to know if I should leave this piece in or not. I'd rather have it out, but I don't want to screw anything up. Let me know, please

If you leave it, one of the filters will get cold air but as with the stock setup inbetween shifts it may suck hot intercooler air. Since it's not an enclosed box, i'm not sure if it's an advantage.
When you remove that crossover peice, you will have to cover the hole on the top of the SMIC duct. You can try some kind of repair tape that handles high heat from the auto store or you can fashion aluminum and maybe some gasket goop and then screw it down.
I recomend having the heat sheild heat coated as it is only painted. You can also heat coat the filter adapters or have them polished.
