Blew the rear diff
Last night I blew the rear diff. It must not be that bad because the housing is not leaking any oil and is completely in tact. My question is should i just replace what is broken with 3rd gen parts or should I put a TII diff in its place? I don't want a kazz because it feels like crap going around corners really slow. Does the TII diff just slide right in without any kind of mods? How much would it cost if the housing is still alright and you just have to replace the diff internals?

Well, first you need to remove it and inspect all the other components.( Ring and pinion gear etc..) I think you already know this but i figured i would start there first.( For that I would buy the Factory service manual, It will walk you thru the entire process)
The installation is pretty straight forward. The MOST important thing is to have the gear backlash set correctly. It will cause a flock of different problems if done incorrectly.
Now that you have inspected evrything, and decided that the ring and pinion are still OK. Then I would replace at least the following parts while rebuilding...
NEW Diff bearings left and right side.
NEW diff oil seals for the axles
New shims (if needed)
NEW bolts for holding the ring gear to the diff.
NEW T2 or Kaaz diff.( don't cheap out and put a used unit in your car. If you use a salvaged part, at least rebuild the T2 diff. (I think Mazda Offers a whole rebuild pack for it.)
New Diff housing bushings ( While you have everything off anyways)
New Diff. oil for the break-in procedure,... And then drain it and put more NEW oil in for the first 2k miles
Other possible things to check: Axle splines to see if they are damaged and near death.
Inspect the driveshaft for bad U joints and replace as needed.( If a stock shaft than you will need to replace the complete shaft as they do not offer replaceable U-joints. OR go with the Mazdatrix replacement that you CAN replace u joints on later.)
And of course inspect your PPF( Power Plant Frame) for cracks and or other wear.
That's about all i can think of rite now. Hope it helps some.

Ive heard the same about Kaaz as far as using a new 12 clutch band setup as opposed to the earlier 8 which offers smoother engagement.
And thats correct, it will drop into the FD housing.
