Bleeding the clutch...why is fluid coming from...

OK,
So I did a engine swap over the winter and I am putting the finishing touches on a few things before I get her started up. Anyways we were bleeding the brakes and the clutch today and when we got around to the clutch the peddle was completely to the floor like it should be right now. I had a friend under the car bleeding off the clutch every 10-15 pumps. Anyways we did this for about 45 pumps 10-15 off then bleed and then back to pumping. Well near the 30-40 pump mark my friend said the bell housing started leaking all the fluid we had just put into it. My questions is, how is this even possible? Could my slave be ruined? Are the slaves in our car pretty temperamental? Anything else I need to look for? We bled the brakes and they were perfect all around when doing those so I am fairly sure the master cylinder is just fine. What do you guys think?

If brake fluid came out of the bell housing, the rod is not in the slave cylinder and the piston has been pushed out.

Do I have to pull my tranny to replace the slave or does it jsut come out with those few bolts holding it on? Would you suggest replacing it or could this one still be ok?

Thanks in advance.

You shouldn't need to replace it. As mentioned, it's held on by two bolts. Open the bottom transmission inspection plate. Most likely the pin will be on the bottom and possibly the piston as well. Then undo the slave, put it back together and install once again.

Since you probably dumped all your fluid from the reservoir, you'll probably need to fill it up again and then bleed. Check your brakes after bleeding the clutch as that problem can also cause you need to bleed the brakes again.

You sure it's coming out from the inside/slave area? Maybe the clutch line/hose is leaking up above and dripping down?

Did you engage your throwout bearing? You would blow your slave out if you didn't.

Well ends up the ring on the other side of the clutch sleeve(throwout bearing sleeve) doesn't have the clip ring on the other side of it =X Anyways we are going to drop the trans and put a new clutch in while we are at it. Stupid mistake by first timers with pull type clutches. How tough is dropping the tranny? Any tips to help me out?
