Black thingys in front bumper...
In the center hole in my front bumper cover (hole that feeds air to radiator) there are two black plastic walls making the opening smaller. It seems like I hardly ever see them on other FD's.
Is there an advantage to having these? Should I remove them so that more air may pass through?
If I should remove them, is they're an easy way? They seem to be permanently attached to the bumper. Should I just hack them off?
Thanks.

I have a feeling that in a stock setup it probably won't improve airflow to the radiator / intercooler, simply because there would be no reason to have them there, with or without foglights, if they did.
My guess is that the smaller opening versus the larger exist at the base of the hood and under the engine creates a low pressure area in front of the car, drawing more air in and reducing turbulance. It might also be there for purposes of ducting...
Just some throughts.

no you got it all wrong, those are there to make the air from the outside be forced through the radiator. think about it, if there is a big opening, the air will flow through the sides but with those on, it forced all of the air to go through the ac condensor, then the radiator and then the intercooler on a stock setup.
knowing all that, i still took mine off. it just looks better and there is not that big of a difference because the only time you will ever overheat is in traffic when you are stopped. if anyone wants those for a MB color car, i have a set in good condition.....

Ack! There is NO NEED for any exotic removal methods!
There are two T-shaped pins in the bumper that the little plastic things just slip over, they have corresponding T-shaped slots.
I have pics if you want.
Really, these just slip on and off....easy!

I am gonna rip mine off this weekend. I think the whole channeling air thing is a crock(but hey I am not an engineer). To truly route the air they would have to go all the way back to the edge of the condenser. I think they just block air flow (again I am not an engineer).

Damn, it seems like I have tried to just pull them off before. I guess I just have to pull harder!
Also, for those of us with "cold air" intakes (intakes that pull air from the gap next to the radiator), won't removing them provide a more direct air flow?
