Black Smoke

Alright, someone who was behind me told me that he sees black smoke coming from my exhaust at a little over 3 or 4K rpms. Now, I know this usually means a bad secondary turbo, but I am running with a downpipe, meaning one less cat. Would it be possible that this smoke is just the non-clean gasses coming out?

Sorry bro. If you wanna rebuild your turbos yourself, its' quite easy. Turbocity sells rebuild kits, $300 for the parts for the pair.

There are only a few parts...really easy. I don't know if it's better than havnig a pro rebuild it but mine work fine.

Hmm... black smoke is usually unburnt gas. Blue smoke is oil and white smoke is usually coolant.

Maybe you're just tuned too rich ?

Black smoke is usually excess fuel. You could have a weak ignition system and you may not be igniting all you fuel causing the black smoke. I usually see a lot of black smoke with my pettit ecu with intake, cb, mp, dp. I believe my maps are pretty rich, and I dont have an ic yet. With a stock ecu, I assume with everything working properly, you wouldnt get much smoke. Something must be wrong with your ignition system or something.
