Black Coolant Pipe on Drivers Side

I'm talking about the pipe that goes from the block to the firewall on the driver side of the car, it has a black plastic piece that goes over it and then at the end becomes smaller so the hose will fit on it.

My problem is that mine was dry rotted and it cracked off, so I have no nipple now to put the coolant line on.

Is this a piece I can simply replace by calling the dealer, or will I need to just remove the black plastic over piece and run a bigger tube to the pipe, and then just clamp down the other end of the tube that meets the heater core pipe on the firewall.

I'm not even sure how the black plastic piece comes off the pipe, it seems to spin in place. Any help would be appreciated.

Just breakin it off and clamp the hose down with a real clamp. The plastic piece is a week point in the cooling system. Most shops remove them.

If you would like to replace that part, they're actually available in the Help! section of the parts store. It's the same as a Ford part.

I STRONGLY disagree with removing this piece. They are only $10 from Mazda and as Dale pointed out you can get them at autoparts stores (be careful, there are about a dozen in the Help! section but only ONE is the correct unit. This piece is an insulator and has a purpose. It is no more of a "failure point" than a hose, for example.
Removing it (in my opinion!) is just a ghetto mod called 'Afro-American customizing' ( I will let you figure that one out, but it rhymes with "wigger wig" ) and detracts immensely from the overall continuity of the engine bay of the car, if you feel it is important to maintain ANY sort of integrity. I realize most people just don't give a **** (you've probably replaced the factory hose clamps with the screw-type, for example...lol!) but anyone with a sense of pride in doing things right will keep as much stuff 'stock' as possible.

OK how the heck does this thing come off lol..... I'm pretty tempted to just shatter it off with a hammer unless someone has a quick method to remove it. Mine doesn't budge.

Is there a clip or something that hold this thing on? I can spin it but it won't come off at all.

Wow. and wow. it is a quick connect fitting. i think its funny that the plastic ast is a "disaster" but the plastic piece in contact with the engine is just fine and the "right" way to do it...
