Bizarre Occurence!

I was driving tonight on I-95, down here in South FLorida, treating the FD to the cool evening air when suddenly the passenger side head light cover flies off! Is this a first or what? Consequently, I'm looking for feed back on vented head light covers. Which is the best and do any of them come painted, matching factory colors?

Flying headlight covers

This happened to me about 9 months ago on US27 in Sth.Florida. Must be the humidity down here ! I searched for it that evening, mosquitos loved it, but no luck. I drove with a black eye for about two weeks and then went back to where I thought it happened, crossed the road to the center strip and there at my feet was the cover. Could not believe my eyes ! I then used a fiberglass repair kit to rebuild the mounts on both sides and they been rock solid ever since. Somehow, I don't think you'll find it on I95 !
Cheers.

I just investigated the cause of flying head light cover. The two screws at the front of the cover were loose and provided zero retention. I could blame myself for that one, but really, who would be diligent enough to check those srews which are hidden behind the black head light ring.

Thanks, From the picture of the FEED cover revealing the buldge, I'm assuming that the air flow does not see the head light assembly and that the black "air dam" attached to the hood behind the light is removed to all the air flow into the engine compartment. Is this correct?

you can remove the plastic "air dam " thing as you call it, yes. And the air is directed above the head light assembly, no problems. I've had mine for a couple years now without it blowing off. Actually noticed a difference in the secondary turbo boost when I installed it, probably due to the cooler air directed to the filter where previously just got hot under hood stagnant air.

tee hee!

How funny is it that you responded to my post with a pic of my car... That's a picture I sent to RP to post of the Apex intercooler kit I just installed since they didn't have any pic's posted on their site...I didn' t know they used the pics with the feed headlight cover for that..I just thought that was a funny coincidence!
