Big Shoutout to JP3

two items in my engine bay have always been a source of frustration

like many i have mounted my adj fuel pressure regulator on the front of my UIM. my throttle cable has had to snake(bend) behind the regulator and then bend back to line up w the cable mount. in addition it winds around the pass side of the UIM. yuch.
JP3 solved the problem perfectly... (caveat-- you won't be able to run cruise control)... P3 uses the cruise control linkage and is able to shorten and completely relocate the path to the TB linkage. throttle cables are a better-not-fail item... nothing to cobble in the garage. JP3's product is absolutely OE Quality. gorgeous.

the other item solves the hanging fusebox hotside battery cable for those w relocated batteries. as most know, this fusebox attaches to the positive post on the stock located battery. when the battery is relocated the fusebox has no support and dangles. not good, especially as it also contains the large positive battery cable. again, problem elegantly solved by JP3. amazing quality as to the support frame. tongue and groove (!) on the triangulation piece. beautiful finish. unfortunately, like the shorty throttle cable, it is not really visible after install. .

i opened the box on these two items just after lunch and they were all buttoned down before cocktail hour. my engine bay is smiling.

thanks JP3... and yes i paid full price for them... all FFE quality

Mazda should be embarrassed that the OE throttle cable didn't just work that way.

probably because most people buying a street car want cruise control

and it was the 1990s, all that goes away with electronic DBW …
.

Kinda surprised @Howard Coleman hasnt gone DBW, pretty sure his ecu is capable of it.
No cables and all the extra options you gain from it

But, Yes JP3 makes some nice products!!

Plus the RHD throttle cable comes out the other side anyway, so it doesn't normally wrap around the UIM. I doubt they cared as much about features like this on LHD cars.

JP3 does make some great stuff though. I would be all over that throttle cable but I want to keep cruise lol.

"hasn't gone DBW"

i like the OE UIM and the OE TB w 3 butterflies is probably a better fit flow-wise than one big honking 90 mm or whatever single throttle plate.

of course "probably" which means i don't really know.

that said, there are a loads of neat things you can do w DBW.

I was only responding to the “Mazda should be ashamed” comment, and with the usual tongue in cheek intent.

I’m personally a fan of staged secondaries, though not necessarily using the OEM TB or intake manifold, or secondaries only either
.

I have a bunch of stuff from JP3, but the best has been fuse block post! Little pricey, but well worth it. JP3 stuff is high quality!

i did a couple of runs w the new shorty throttle linkage and can verify that it works very well. it seemed like the car really wanted to RUN 'still doing a bit of cruising/breakin although i have done a few trips to 17 psi/515. the g40-1150 is both linear and also seems like sitting on top of a 500 pound bomb.

Your thread prompted an order of the fuse block bracket. I’ve got a floppy box from battery relocation and this will fix that nagging item.

JP3 makes great stuff, and I’m a fan. I already have their shifter, rx8 AC retrofit for stock mount intercooler bits, and a Mac valve bracket.

+1 for JP3. You get what you pay for and it's fully fleshed out engineering and development. I have the fan/boost solenoid relo bracket, short shifter, grounding cables, and the RAM mount cup holder and cell phone mount. I need to get this shorty throttle cable and the hood struts.
