Big Problem Rx7 Won't Start
I am very angry with my rx7 right now, it won't start no matter what. I have looked at all the peoples advice on the forum and none have solves the problem. I think the rx7 is flooded. I have went through the process of de-flooding it sevral times and no luck. I tryed cranking it with full throttle, then cranking it with my foot off the pedal and repeating it again and again. STILL NOTHING!. If anybody has any ideas how to fix it they will get my good graces.

I'm going thru the same thing right now. First make sure that it is flooded. It can just be hard starting which can be caused by low compression, bad tuning, or a bunch of other stuff.
Mine can't be bad compression (thank god) cause I just had it check at MTrix (8.+ all the way around). I have the ATF sitting in there right now, and I'm going to crank it tonight, I REALLY hope it starts.

That happend once to me. Here is how I beleive it happend. I never start my car and turn it right back off but I was in hurry and had to move it about 30 feet so I start it and moved it. It only ran for maybe 5 sec and I turned it off. Went to go for a spin that night and it would not start, I mean this thing did not even try to start (I figured I wasnt getting spark). Everything I checked was fine, spark, fuel, ect.. But the thing would not even try. I messed around with it for about a week. My dad swore up it down it wasnt getting fuel, but I knew it was. So I got all Pissed and hooked a battery charger up to it and just keep cranking it. It started to stumble after a while like it was tring to start. So I keep cranking it for about 5 sec and stop over and over. It finally started and blew a bunch of smoke for a couple of minutes and then cleared up and It has never happend since. The only thing I could come up with that it flooded some how.

where do you put the m.m.o.? In the spark plug holes or in the oil fill hole where you add regular oil? If I have no compression now, is that a safe way of reversing it? i don't want to buy a new engine.....

help. new status on mine: put oil in the plug holes, used ether, put on a charger and cranked and cranked... push started in 3rd gear....... nothing works. Pulled the manifold off and I've for air blowing out of one of the primary holes....... Is that good? Do i need a new engine or is there any hope? Only 50k miles.....

Hello rjuge and floman,
In the course of this thread you have made it is blatantly obvious that you both know very little about these engines. There are a hundreds of things that can cause both of your starting problems, the biggest being a blown seal indicated by low compression. No matter what anyone on this list says, there is no quick fix to a low compression engine. If a seal is going or gone, the engine will have to be rebuilt.
I urge both of you to stop dumping crap into your engines and trying to push start them all over the place.
Get them to a qualified RX7 mechanic before you totally destroy them. The crap you are doing to your cars now could lead to an engine rebuild, when all you may have had originally wrong was a plugged cat or a bad igniter.
Sorry, I'm not trying to be mean, just honest.

I am having the same problem .. its would not start. I pulled it out of the garage to wash it and parked it back in ... the next time I tried to start .. it would not. I had similar problem few year ago, I was able to glide down hill and get it started, but now I live at bottom of the hill, I will have to get it towed.
cranking till it starts like it could workm, but I was afraid that it could damage started or something else ?

No compression means your engine is dead.
Pull a sparkplug on one rotor and crank it. You should hear 3 even and strong pulses.
Then do the same to the 2nd rotor. Again 3 even pulses.
rjuge, your engine is gone. Buy a reman.

Sorry I wasn't more clear in my earlier post.
I checked my compression by using a cheap piston engine compression gauge. Modify it by pulling the center valve pin out of the threaded end with some needle nosed pliers or a valve stem remover. Unplug the EFI fuse. Remove the both leading plugs, and crank the engine with the compression gauge installed, and with open throttle. Have your friend check the bounces on the needle. search old posts and yould find how to interpret them.
Yeah like the above posts said... aint no cure for low/no compression except for a rebuild!
Harsh: you have the classic flooded engine story!
