BIG problem after changing spark plugs and wires......

I dont know what the hell is going on... I made sure I torqued all the spark plugs to spec, and checked the wires several times..

The problem started when I took off the throttle position sensor...BIG MISTAKE OOPS..... I started the car and it idles kinda rough, and when I step on the gas the rpm comes back down VERY SLOWLY.

and to top it all off it has a check engine light that comes on right after the car starts "which never happened before"

I tried to adjust the TPS but I couldnt get it fixed..... anyone know what else I could have done wrong or what it could be? Could it be the new spark plugs are gapped wrong?(even though it says no gapping required on the box) I cant seem to do anything right on this car...............

did you adjust the TPS with a multimeter?

Also, I believe that an extremely misaligned TPS can put the ECU into safe mode. Try resetting the ECU and adjusting the TPS with a multimeter.

I'm not positive on how to do it on these cars, but on most cars all you need to do is cut all electricity to the ECU. Most common method is to disconnect the battery and hold the brakes until the brake lights drain any remaining charge in the system(usually takes like 30 seconds)

Also, just a precaution, make sure you didn't knock off the vacuum line too the Boost/MAP sensor on the firewall.

I have tried to disonnect the battery and press the brake pedal but it doesn help. ( it even says to do this in the factory manual) Problem is I really dont know how to use my multimeter to check the voltage.
I checked it but none of the voltages made sense, an nothing changed when I moved the TPS back and forth.
The vacuum line to the boost sensor is hooked up and works good cause I disconnected it, and the idle changed, then reconnected and it went back to 1500rpm which is kinda high but more normal.

I want to make SURE it has something to do with the TPS......i didnt disconnect NO OTHER SENSORS except for the TPS( I know I am an IDIOT and wasnt thinking). didnt mess with the idle ajuster screw, the accelerated warm up, etc
I might bring my car to my job (sears automotive) and see if they can properly adjust it and reset the faulty check engine code.... If anyone has any other info PLEASE help.

and to think this is the VERY last thing I needed to do to my car "maintanence wise" and now more problems develop... God please help me =(

I say take off the TPS aim pretty sure you didnt put it in right because you can put in two ways one will be the right way and the other will not make it work and turn the check engine light on.

You can always pull the engine codes and check them against the list on fd3s.net. Maybe it's coincidental?

What were you using as a guide when adjusting the TPS?
