ok i bought my car damaged, it was not running cos it had front damage. i had the pannel work done and they replaced the looms in the engine bay with a import front cut i bought aswell. some things on the car were working when i sent it to the pannel beaters that are not working now ie: odometer reading, radio, indicators power windows and central locking, plus the car wont fire. it will turn over but not fire. i cant hear the fuel pump prime either. as the front of the car was smashed i didnt try to start the car b4 i took it to the panell beaters to be repaired. the car also has an alarm, which is now half wired in and half out, due to the looms in the front of the car being replaced.

my question is what should i look at first, could some or many or these problems be related?
i hear you can reset the ecu could this help my problem?
does the ecu control things like power window and odometor reading?

oh yer when i turn the key to on i get a click from the abs unit?
any help would be greatly appreciated

Start by looking around. Do you see anything disconnected ?

 

cant see anything disconnected looked up under the dash as much as i can and it all seems good

 

my brake lights dont work aswell

 

Fuses ?

 

They can get damaged through welding I think...

 

all that i can find seem good.

 

i have a blue connector with 11 wires going into it comming of the loom just b4 the ecu that is not plugged in
it this normal does anybody have this connector and its not plugged into anything?
oh yer i cant see anywhere to plug it in

Depends on what kind of welding... Arc Welding (Electrical) yes.. shure can you're talking about serious voltage/amperage...

Butane Welding... No has no effect on fuses....
I'd check relays since those have a "Rating" as well and can fuse if overloaded...

There's a whole set of fuses below the drives side dash, and then a couple more + a ton of relays to check in th engine compartment...

 

im not sure on how to test relays but ive check all the fuses and they seem good.
does you car have the blue connector on the loom just b4 the ecu not plugged in?

There should be three plugs at the ecu end of the wiring harness (or "loom" for you guys down under ). All three should certainly be plugged in.

I'm not sure if this is what you are referring to.

 

there seems to be four plugs going into the ecu two from a thin wiring harness and two from a much thicker wiring harness but the thicker harness has a third blue male plug on it and its isnt plugged in and i can find anywhere for it to go

 

oh yer the plugs that are plugged into the ecu are all yellow

 

somebody must know if this plug should be plugged in and where it goes

 

Only the yellow plugs go to the ECU. I don't know about the blue one,

 

of course you must plug in the blue one...............it gives power to odometer radio and etc. look more carefully under dash....you will see another blue conector to plug them together.........

still cant see any female plugs to plug it into. so i guess ill have to pull the a/c out to find it.

does anyone have any idea what i have to do to get the blower and a/c out? do i have to remove the dash board?

Don't pull the blower(not a/c) out. The engine wiring harness has three yellow plugs(male) that go to ecu and one blue(male) that goes to the dash console wiring harness(blue-female).
You will find the blue female plug, just above the ecu hanging, waiting to be connected with the blue male plug(!!! )
If you can't find I 'll take pics of mine to show you.

ok ive found the femal blue plug, and plugged it in and zip, nothing. i still have all the problems i had before, no brake lights, no indicators, no engine light, the only thing that works on the dash is the fan and the fresh air button, i have no power windows , no central locking, no interior light, no radio. i have head lights and windscreen wipers, engine wont start, probable cos theres no fuel getting to it cos the fuel pump dont work, but it turns over with the starter motor.

alright ive worked out that im not getting power to the fuse box that is in the engine bay near the battery, it the one that has the curcit relay in it.

does anyone know why this would be?
please help
if i cant fix it ill have to take it to the auto electrician and that will cost me big $
