Exclamation BIG guy in a FD?

My cousin has an fd and i tried getting in. I can get in fine and sit fine but the steering wheel is basically sitting between my legs almost on my crouch. lol. im 5'11" and about 260lbs. anybody else around this that fit in their fd? i love em and would like to get one but would like to know what other people have done. maybe smaller steering wheel? lower seat? are all these possible to make a better driving experience? and before u say LOSE weight blah blah blah. yea well i am and trying so please dont go there.

haha 6'2 210, I fit but it wasn't confortable so I am getting a 330mm steering wheel and a large hub with quick release to bring the steering wheel further out. Speedjunkie has the same setup I'm getting and I've sat in his car and it feels perfect.

thanks for chiming in guys. i did search but i guess not good enough. i searched for taller guys instead of bigger guys and came up with some beter results. so i will continure reading other threads. but just wondering what do u recommend for a new steering wheel and maybe hub release to push the steering wheel a lil more out. saw one post abou someone knowing a 300lb guy with an fd . so that give me hope. thanks all.

Only problem is the steering wheel being so close to the legs, A smaller steering wheel with a quick release hub would be just perfect.

If i can daily drive this car, you can to

5'11" 265 here. Long body and short legs.

Salad and shoe horns or swap in a 20b you'll forget about the fit for awhile.

6 foot and 280lbs. I have some trouble getting in and situated but for this kinda car, I'll do anything. I've learned to drive it with the wheel between my legs and while it is uncomfortable, it is possible. Just be careful during spirited driving. It's easy to get your arms and hands stuck in certain positions. Don't drive relaxed. Keep your hands at 9 and 3 and don't cross your arms in corners.

Losing weight is insanely difficult. You will instantly notice how much it strains the car when you get 2 heavy guys in it.

BTW brake boosting is way more difficult than it should be when the wheel is in the way. Have to approach the brake with a crooked leg.

FYI: the moon roof restricts alot of height.

I also got a newer nardi wheel and even though I didnt have to many problems before, I did notice that driving was alot more comfortable.

Remind him he does not drive a honda civic and should install quality parts in his FD. MOMO, or Sparco....

The hub adaptors can be found pretty cheap here: http://www.gomiata.com/mihubadplpl9.html and it comes with the resistor to trip the air bag light.

Just with a smaller wheel you should have no worries getting in/out/driving an FD. Hope to see your "I just bought my first FD and I love it" thread soon!!

I like the idea of a smaller wheel but there are very few ones that still have an air bag. I would love to fit better but not at the expense of safety.
